I have a question. Using E220 Modem. Firmware version 11.117.10.03.99 I'm using the default installation for the drivers from the E220 itself.
Before hitting the 3gb usage, I can go to about 3.6mbps if I'm lucky. But after it, it drops to 56kbps, I'm alright with that cause when surfing it still manages to creep up to twice that. This month however, I needed to reinstall windows and reupdate my games on Steam. Is there a way to reset the usage or ask them to uncap my line for a few days or something? Now my Street Fighter IV is just sitting there and can't update itself. My newly brought Braid is also sitting there and downloading 5% per day (It's just 130mbs, go figure.) I'm getting impatient as the next month is pretty far away.
Anychance in hell I can actually get help with Maxis Customer Service?

So it's nearly triple the price for 4 times the bandwidth... which technically lasts... 12 days longer? I hit my 3gb at 3 to 7 days if I have games to update. If I buy a game it gets much, much worse. What the hell. >_<
Edit: I've checked their webbie. WHAT, IN, THE, WORLD!? RM10/GB for extra bandwidth? That's really overkill. I can't believe an ISP is charging RM10 for an extra GB of bandwidth. This is sparta.

What other companies charge an extra RM10 for each GB of extra bandwidth before line capping?

Amazing, today a technical level 2 support personnel (So called supervisor) finally replied my queries on why I'm getting 12kbits/sec speed, he told me that according to his knowledge, they implemented a new cap to 16kbps after 5gb of traffic in this month. Is this bullshit or is he actually telling the truth? Either way, 12kbps is not enough speed to let me even load google search pages, much less anything else. Can I complain to any consumer helplines about this? I want to disconnect this shit if they can't even give me the capped speed of 64kbps. And for sure as heck I don't want to pay the RM200 handling fees for the fact that it's them throttling my line to 12kbps int he first place.

Don't worry, I work for a Customer Service for a singaporean ISP (Of sorts) before, I know exactly how to be irate to get things done. Just wondering whether there's any way for me to legitly do it until they can't have a second word in like how earlier in the year someone got a rep from some tribunal to write a letter in. Thanks a lot for the information. This post has been edited by Yuki Ijuin: Oct 20 2009, 10:13 PM

QUOTE(eddie_al @ Oct 28 2009, 04:36 PM) are you sure you are getting 12kbps? (as in kilobits). assuming what you say is correct, your dl speed when shown in the Windows download would be 1.5kB/s (kiloByte), which, is insanely slow. I've been shitted by Maxis b4 (and still is) with their ridiculous speedcaps, but as far as I know the cap is still 64kbps, which equals 8kB/s averagely. (just to confirm, speedtest.net will show a result of 0.06mbps for dl/up) i totally support you if you want to file a complain, but do make sure you have the right facts and solid numbers to back yr claims. otherwise it'd be rather embarassing. just a concern since alot of forumers are not aware of the small b and big B. and as much as i hate maxis for their lousy T&C, i doubt they will dare to screw with the consumers as to speed cap down to an insane 12kbps. thats not even narrowband. rmb 56k modem? thats 56kbps. That's exactly what I told them. Most of their tech support and customer service doesn't understand what's 12kilobits as well. This has been going on for more than 20 days now, I'm just waiting for their cust support to screw up for a backdated disconnection.

For the ongoing case. I'm still getting 12kbps. Customer Service now spinning the story that my usage increased from 6gb in May to 20gb (in a month) in Sept. I don't even know how is 20gb possible when they cap you after 3gb.
Still doesn't justify denying me my internet when I've paid. When did their fair usage policy say anything about making your internet so slow that it doesn't even work?
Eddie: It seems like they're intent on screwing with me. I intend to screw right back.
Anybody with places I can go to complain about this?

Is there a list of tribunals/comsumer associations that I can contact somewhere around this section? @_@ Search isn't helping me much.

QUOTE(ibnuasad @ Nov 1 2009, 05:57 PM) If you don't download games demos, movies trailers, tv shows previews or applications trials then Maxis WBB is for you Not only that, don't download windows updates, game updates, online game patches, application patches. etc. The last L4D update was 120 megs, TF2 had a 140 meg update. Don't forget all the other downloads also take it's toll. 2 to 3 refreshes on LYN is already a meg.

My current updates from 31st of October to 2nd of November. For IE8 and MS office 03, Compatibility Service packs (MSO), 28mb, cumulative update for IE8, 12mbs, cumulative security updates/Miscellenous, 20mbs. Language pack updates. 26mbs. I'm not even including silverlight and other updates they have.
My usage is already 500mbs from the aforementioned L4D/TF2 patches, then the other updates that I've missed due to the effing 12kbit/s problem I had. This is on the 2nd of November. ~_~
