QUOTE(9M-MAS @ Apr 11 2010, 10:56 PM) Thanks man! I prefer the DIR-412 mainly because of the size. Can create WiFi networks on the go! Yes, the DIR-412 is a very compact router with no protruding antennas so mobility great. However, expect the range to be shorter than the Aztech. Also the 412 is a Wireless N 150 so it should be operating on a single antenna. As a result, range and network speed will be lower than the dual antenna Aztech. Good side is, the 412 has the official Wireless N specifications. One thing I like about the DIR-412 is that it is cool during operation unlike older D-Link products. Lastly it is pretty cheap. I got it from Viewnet 3rd Floor, Low Yat Plaza for RM149. Other places are selling it for RM170~ By the way, has anyone encounter this problem? As soon as you connect to Maxis network, instead of loading the www.mylaunchpad.com.my the browser responded by displaying 'service unavailable'? I seem to have this problem lately.

QUOTE(joexoll @ Apr 12 2010, 10:06 AM) hi for voice and sms service using maxis broadband, will got charge or not? thanks You can't use voice services on your Maxis Broadband SIM because only data is activated on the SIM. The purpose of unlocking hidden features on Maxis's E1762 which is supported in the first place but disabled is so that you can use your mobile phone SIM card which has voice and data enabled. Charges will depend on your plan subscription. Maxis Broadband SIM can receive SMS but I have not tried sending one out so I can't be sure.

QUOTE(shadow111 @ Apr 12 2010, 08:13 PM) i also keep on getting service unavailable quite frequently few days ago.. but since today, it's ok dy.. I encountered it this morning in Bukit Jalil. But I was at home since 4pm (Taman Midah) and things have been smooth. Maybe my call to the customer support helped. But I'll cross my fingers for now.

QUOTE(9M-MAS @ Apr 13 2010, 02:01 PM) E220 can support up to 7.2Mbps with software upgrade... And it is still popular out there hehehe... I think it is a very 'hackable' device...

QUOTE(shadow111 @ Apr 13 2010, 03:31 PM) what other benefit can we gain after all those hacking? Probably the same as E1762 like enabling voice. I can't be sure but on another forum which discusses about 3G modem (its a ahem site, sorry... cannot mention) and E220 is still popular there. So it must be a pretty 'open' platform.

QUOTE(miQbals @ Apr 13 2010, 05:19 PM) How the performance would be if I'm hook-up the ZTE MF600 modem to my current D-Link wireless router switch & share it with 2 - 3 user at one time ? I plan to do ICS as we are only use it for surfing purpose only. OR better to take the USB modem & buy a DIR412 or HW550. THaNKs... : D Both the DIR-412 and HW550-3G can handle loads pretty well in my opinion. I have around 3-4 computers accessing the internet via the router and we get pretty good response.

QUOTE(dyaf @ Apr 13 2010, 11:23 PM) hmmm, wat is the point? It is not originally design to be. Hacking mean not tested by the manufacturer although it would work. Kinda like use it at your own risk. If can choose, better dun hack ler unless there are *extra* after hacked. Anything *extra* after hacked? I believe it is some sort of a custom thing in the underground scenes. Which is why I said it is 'hackable' and not indicating you can hack the modem to hack the network or something . I'm not very sure myself but it seems to be popular. I mean E220 has been around like forever? And its still here today. I can see E1762 going the same road too.

QUOTE(shadow111 @ Apr 14 2010, 08:54 AM) if after hack i can get better signal strength, i'll sure do it... it's way better than buyin an external antenna which cost a bomb.. Don't think so bro. Maybe upgrade the software algorithm to enable higher speed like how it did from 3.6 to 7.2. I'll try to find out more about the tweaks those underground guys are doing. Maybe can shed some light into the topic.

QUOTE(shadow111 @ Apr 14 2010, 10:05 AM) that will be great.. at least can shred some light on what is the benefit of the hacks/etc.. too bad.. my company blocked all those sites as it's deem illegal.. My company blocks too. But that why we get 3G modems I'm able to configure my browser to only use that 3G connection to limit exposure. So if I hit any websites or things that are blocked internally, I'll just take out my 3G modem. Of course, you do it discreetly.

QUOTE(shadow111 @ Apr 14 2010, 10:29 AM) can you share how you do it? i would like to use yr methods too.. at least i can still connect to the network while surfing those blocked site from my opera. i hv 3 browser on my nb.. IE for work related stuff, firefox for personal browsing and opera for illegal stuff.. I'm using Firefox. Go to Tools > Options > Network Tab > Settings > Set to No Proxy. Most companies uses a proxy server and they manage internal computer's access to the outside world. So you set to No Proxy so that it will just use whatever that is connected to the PC. But I seem to have a problem using this method because my company mail will stop coming. I tried setting the outlook to use IE's proxy settings, still no go. It seems to be confused when Maxis Broadband is connected. Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

Take readings after 1 minute or more. QUOTE(alvinddm @ Apr 15 2010, 12:45 PM) anyone flashed their E1762 to a generic dashboard "Mobile Partner"? Mind to share? I have one with Mobile Partner. QUOTE(budingyun @ Apr 15 2010, 09:06 PM) download adobe air from adobe server can get 400kB/s.. mozilla firefox + greasemonkey + mangahelper script.. load 1 chapter = 3 second.. Very nice speed My best readings from location was only 320kB/sec after 15 minutes. I love Maxis's broadband. Even on peak times, I can get pretty good speed of around 2-3Mbps.

QUOTE(shadow111 @ Apr 16 2010, 08:36 AM) good speed man.. where is yr location? the best i can get in my area (kulim) is around 200KBps. Taman Midah KL. But that highest speed was during morning. Throughout the day, I can get 210KB/sec on average. Still very good for me. I've been seeing download rates of 60-100kB/sec. No anymore, I can now enjoy higher internet speeds.

QUOTE(Zepx @ Apr 21 2010, 04:15 PM) Actually is there a youth plan for maxis BB? Because I asked the sales guy at Maxis Centre, and he pointed out Youth Club. I was like O.o. Also, he said that E1762 was out of stock, and offered a ZTE MF 110. Is this model good? Seems like an old model or something. Anyone knows which place still has stock for such modem? I asked the maxis centre at Sri Hartamas shopping centre. Seem to have the same specification as E1762. 7.2Mbps down and 5.76Mbps up, microSD card, etc. Don't know about external antenna support. http://wwwen.zte.com.cn/en/products/mobile...ame=ZTE%20MF110
