hi guyz

i'm using maxis bb for almost 2 years. i'm intend to change my modem from currently use ZTE to usb modem. the question is..did i need to unlock sim 1st or simply take out simcard from my bulky-zte and put it into usb modem

tq
*
just bring everything to maxis center and request for a modem upgrade... they will terminate you existing account and put you on the latest package with the small usb stik modem n new simcard
you need to pay RM100 handling fee and if i'm not mistaken they will discount back RM33 for 3months

this is what i get when i upgrade my e220 maxis bb modem to the new usb stick modem

they give me 50packets of sampul duit raya and 2box of kurma too rclxms.gif
location : maxis center Berjaya Time Square

Added on September 12, 2009, 5:31 pmI dunno why melaka upload speed is very very GOOD rclxms.gif

kk thx for the link..
btw, according to the seller.. if I upgrade or change the software it will void the warranty doh.gif
*
void the warranty if you upgrade the firmware (flash ur modem software n driver all together)
this one just download to your pc n install.. dont do anything with ur installed 3mobile connect software

means after installing mobile partner... whenever u plug in your modem... ur 3mobile connect will auto open like alwiz... just close it then open mobile partner then connect with mobile partner

After I install mobile Partner, when I tried to connect it, it says "Default configuration does not exist". How to solve this problem? Is it that using this Mobile Partner will be faster than using the original software provided by the modem? My Maxis these few days really scuks to the max. Hoping that this Mobile Partner thing will help.
*
whats ur modem model?
if e220 you get past few months... the maxis broadband software is the same as mobile partner exactly or even more updated version too

if the usb stick the maxis broadband software is by far the most updated one... if you use mobile partner let say from myceloteh.com website, that mobile cannot detect ur new maxis usb stick modem (e1762)

its ok... althou ur modem cannot support HSPA, u still can achieve upto HSDPA standard PLUS LOWER PING time...~!

since HSPA capable tower has much2 lower ping than HSDPA tower (based on experience and wikipedia)

based on my speed test... HSDPA maxis around 170ms HSPA maxis around 80ms

mana aci~ speeds always vary also la~ since you will always changing cell tower~

so you are now like survey2 which tower less congested and then test packet loss in high speed aaa tongue.gif

bro... this speed because of throttled or not? try using prepaid bb one time...
or try check 2 well known commercial lot places in ur area
IF your prepaid bb can get 1mbps above...
go to maxis center and complain ur maxisbb very2 slow then ask to terminate ur account and reregister again
bring everything to return and then reregister... maxis wont charge penalty if u used less then 12month if you reregister when u complain

ive done this today... at berjaya time square
since 16/09 i get this speed

while at the same day my maxis prepaid get this speed

Just realized you guys were talking about HSPA a few pages back.

Just wondering, when did Maxis rolled out HSPA? The speed I'm getting is unbelievable, like F1!

Hari Raya mornin~

user posted image

maxis didn't announce anything about HSPA but since last week 14.09.2009 when im back in Bangi suddenly i noticed why my network signal on my mobile partner keep changin... WCDMA>HSDPA>HSUPA after a minute... HSPA blink.gif

so i tot i dont believe it la... i dig around wikipedia to learn the diff HSDPA n HSPA so the 1st thing we can check is the ping time alwiz 150ms below... (half of HSPDA) n my best ping so far is 60ms

so far i havent go round n round all parts of bangi or serdang or putrajaya to test... but so far Sg Ramal, Bangi Seksyen 8,9,16 have HSPA

dunno why they put HSPA here.. i guess they go to most congested areas~ btw i can only get >3.6mbps between 3am-6am on average its always 2.5mbps

last time when HSPDA my average here is 1.7mbps with ping 150-300ms

last but not least... i tested MaxisBB with and without OpenDNS... seems that WITHOUT OpenDNS the connection n ping is FASTER whistling.gif

meaning u can get the speed up to 3.6Mbps but when u reach the volume quota..
ur speed will throttle to lower speed
*
correction... no speed capping = as fast as the modem can carry OR the cell tower capasity
example: modem can support HSPA and tower also HSPA so you can get UPTO 7.2mbps (like my siggy more than 3.6mbps maa)

speed capping is for ADVANCE LITE plan (sim only no modem) or prepaid bb is capped to 3.6mbps only

BUT no matter how fast you can go... once over your bandwidth quota hehe tongue.gif throttled babe
