hi guys i'm  also using maxis wireless broadband. I already fed up that my normal download speed is only 5kb or sometimes reduce to bytes. I used utorrent to download movies bt the speed of the torrent is sometimes 0.2kb .Can any1 help me out of this problem please. Giv me a solution for this.
*
Downloading torrents will ALWAYS be a problem. One of the solution is to get a VPN or you can buy a RapidShare / MegaUpload account. I'm also using MaxisBB (Starter Package - RM68/month) and my dl speed via RapidShare right now is about 20 - 45 kBps.

Which package are you on?

i just applied the maxis broadband... im use the black big modem...
is it good?
i feel like normal only
should i go for it or go for streamyx?
*
Dude, i got that modem as well. it's the b932 black modem. I had it for 1+ day now and can't seem to connect to maxis network at all. Maxis' website says my area has BB coverage, and last week maxis opened up a booth <200m from my place, promoting maxis broadband and they all used the USB modem for their laptop.

Im guessing i can only use usb modem in this area. I emailed maxis CS and still no answer (before i subscribed w/ maxisBB, they call me back before the day ends...hmmmm biggrin.gif )

Tried adjusting some settings in the modem. I only get green icon for SIM and 5-bar signal, If i choose "GSM Only" under "NETWORK Setting". I tried searching for network manually, found some 2Gs, 3Gs but when I tried to logon to it, page says "Registering network failed".

IF there's still no call from maxis by the end of the day, im going to visit our friendly friends at the maxis center.

peace biggrin.gif

P/S: any1 can give some advice on the matter above...really appreciate it.

Still can't believe that I can get this speed at Port Klang shocking.gif thumbup.gif user posted image

However avg downloading speed only 270kps or 2160kbps... hmm.gif hmm.gif Nevertheless downloading a 35MB file only took me ~45sec compare to streamyx at 1min30min.. rclxms.gif

A real suprise...probably result from the MAXIS losing battle wth MNP hmm.gif

However this speed only achievable using Huawei E156G USB Modem. If I use Nokia N78, the speed go bck to UMTS i.e 380kbps!! rclxub.gif

@stimix

seriously the speed is REALLY improving right now. day time i managed to get over 50~70kBps download, which is really improved from 20~30kBps last time. probably because of the pressure maxis gets from consumers?

Not sure the actual package but it is postpaid + unlimited 3G at RM99. Last Weekend, I added RM15 to get a multi-SIM card so that I can use 2 SIM on the same number.. thumbup.gif ...Suprisingly shocking...Should hv bought the ext Modem long time ago!..I though it's the line but it was the Phone modem that's sxxks!!

However I still doubt the result from speedtest...so much diff from the Huawei software speedo hmm.gif

haha, this is because so many people switch to celcom broadband because it perform better before.. but now, celcom gain too many customer (in 3rd quarter 2008, celcom broadband subsribers already exceeding maxis broadband subsribers).

so, celcom performance is down (due network congested) mad.gif .. and maxis performance up (due to less users) thumbup.gif .. so, why dont we divided into two groups.. half of us using maxis, while another half using celcom.. then all of us enjoying fair performance lol.. sweat.gif soon when digi launch their 3G services, more choice for us.

about MNP, i dont think its giving any major impact.. i know maxis already lost more than half a milion customers (according to some internal informer) after MNP launched.. but its only less than 5% of their total subsribers. and these users are mainly using gsm network (for voice services only), not 3g or data services.

I was told that Maxis BB is not as stable & shared line compare to Maxis 3G tied to postpaid which is unlimited..Probably this the reason why so many conmplains on BB? Sorry mine is not BB it's 3G unlimited hmm.gif

using a phone as a modem is not a good idea. it is very unstable as it frequently got disconnected especially when receiving a call..

Maxis postpaid + 3G phone. call them and ask for unlimited internet package (or internet2go, whichever)

that's all.
