From the race, I can assume Mclaren already lost their pace to Ferrari. Since Hamilton on 3 pits, he should be on pole during qualification, but only third. If Hamilton on 2 pits, it will be another 1-2 finish for Ferrari.

The McLaren Formula 1 team was advised by Bridgestone to stop three times to prevent a tyre failure during the race for Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton finished Sunday's Turkish Grand Prix in second position.
Bridgestone want to help Ferrari?.. jk.
If this is true, than we should see more teams on 3 pits.

Kimi's wing probably damaged a little only...but if it really did...why didn't Ferrari change the front wing?

Happened last year, Hamilton tires puncture, so that the reason why Bridgestone advice them for 3 pits strategy.

When you only suffered minor damage and you decided to pit in for long time, with that already bring you down to dunno what position. Do you think it's worth doing that? smile.gif

he could've changed the wing during a routine pit-stop. Shouldn't lose that much time. Then for the next 40 laps or so he can push nicely.

Well every second counts, you know that right? A typical front-wing change takes about 10 seconds or so? And a normal refuelling stop just about 8 sec max. 2 sec difference is a lot...

If that damage really cost him time, it would have being changed.

yes you save a few seconds for not changing, but losing how much time on laps?

the incident took place on the very 1st lap and it was not changed, show us that the damage wasn't giving any significant influence to the performance thus stop saying that's why he is behind Ham. Ham was faster and that was the fact, no matter how much u hate Hamilton or McLaren.

Sometimes i feel this thead should hv being named to Ferrari thread instead, oh no, should be anti McLaren. wink.gif

pretty good race, with plenty of overtaking, finally.

heikki's tyre didnt ruined his day, you can say kimi ruined his day, or they both ruined their day for running too close to each other. anyway that's racing !

i think the damage on kimi's car is very minimal, might be those little flaps at the side of the front wing. engineers know the aerodynamic loads on the car, so they know whether it should be changed or not. and they know their maths. i doubt he would be able to post the fastest lap if the damage is significant.

it is just the mclaren car setup is more harsh on the tyre compared to the other teams

by utilising 4 sets compared to 3 set
this would reduce the posibility of tyre failure

I think is Hamilton driving technique instead of Mclaren car setuo.
Hamilton always push the car to limit, he always braking at last minutes, this will cause engine and tires problems.

From f1.com
QUOTE
Commenting on the issue, Hirohide Hamashima, Bridgestone Motorsports tyre development director, said: Bridgestone and the team had safety concerns which did influence his strategy, however he achieved a very good result. These concerns affected no other car on the grid, and we will be analysing the data to see what we can learn from this. We did see three cars finish the race after making only one stop, so durability was certainly strong for the tyres for these competitors.
