QUOTE(kueks @ Jun 10 2008, 08:47 PM)
actually why is there a red/green light in the 1st place ?

hmm
*
The cars that pitted during SC period must wait until the last car that follows the SC on track clears the first sector.

The pits exit lights has 3 colors :

red : meaning the car most stop\ session (race\practice\qualify) not yet started
green : meaning the car can go out to the track
blue : a faster car is approaching

rear wing cant replace meh?isn't Alonso also replaced his one in Manaco?
anyway,lucky Lewis's car also broken,else Kimi will be  mad.gif
i wonder if Hamilton still able to race after hit Kimi, what penalty will he get? tongue.gif
*
Rear wing can be replaced, i've seen it before but i couldnt remember seeing it when, but it will take more time than to change the front wing. I think kimi's suffered rear suspension too.

yes, you are right. Since kimi's car passed the pits area... so technically the team cant recover the car IIRC

About the SC thing, because all cars are not allowed to take over under SC so that's why the guys who pitted will have to wait until all cars cleared then they are allowed to exit the pitlane. That's my view
*
not all cars , lapped cars (in between the cars on the current lap) may overtake SC

i wait for the day when the lapped car hit the back of SC... icon_rolleyes.gif

talking bout SC, back in the days like in the 80's, there's no official SC. Its up to the organizer of the track. I remember watching Imola GP in the 80's - the SC was a Ferrari road car.. LOL

ermm hmm.gif , not in terms of car crash, but the rule breaking...i remember many drivers break the red light in SC period, refuel when pit closed...i really think this rule should reconsidered seriously, personally feel the rules quite stupid...
*
then a smart driver will take advantage of it : eg.

Lets say Sato was leading the race and the gap is 20 second to the second driver (Kimi). So sato was about to begin the 3rd sector when a crash at sector 2 brought the SC out. So the SC will be waiting at the end of pit lane to pick the lead car.

Sato can take advantage by diving straight into the pits for fuel and tyre and still be the first car behind the SC.

but this scenario rarely happens lar

exactly! he maybe younger than coulthard but he just not talented enough to win it again.
will he fare better than sutil , bourdais and those tailenders?  hmm.gif
*
i think he can do well if he comes back to F1. he's been away for 2 years, isnt he? and the 2009 regs change , means that more overtaking - most of the aero parts will be gone - like honda's elephant ear wings. The rear diffuser will also be changed. so next year , F1 cars will rely heavily on mechanical grip.

i am intrigued that the FIA will introduce a new device next year - the lower part of the front wing can be adjusted by a button on the steering wheel. this will give the driver the chance to follow the car infront closely thru the corners. The use of this button will be limited - like the boost button on A1GP cars

give him time. Mika spend 4 years with McLaren before he won his first race.

I think someone forgotten that kimi used to be in McLaren.... i wonder what would happen if he stayed on with sauber hmm.gif
