new smart only use mitsubishi engine

last time smart uses mercedes engines

Wrong. The 2005-2006 smart forfour uses 4A90 and 4A91 inline-4 MIVEC engine from Mitsubishi. Originally found on 2003 Mitsubishi Colts. The only smart that uses Merc engine is fortwo and roadster. Only new 2007 models will use Mitsubishi engines.

SMART = Swatch Mercedes-Benz ART
if not mistaken
swatch designed the car while Mercedes-Benz build the car

Daimler Chrysler group including Mercedes-Benz n Mitsubishi n other car companies
so smart is sharing the tech of engine from Mitsubishi
tho Daimler Chrysler had seperate adi

100% correct.

S - Swatch
M - Mercedes
ART - ART smile.gif

Sharing parts from another maker is one way to save cost. Just like Nissan Latio and Renault Cup. Both use the same platform and shared many parts. Even the Saab 9-2X is based on the Subaru Impreza.

still waiting for seller to reply my sms...

btw it is rm250 for one chip... how many chip eh inside mivec ecu? never open it b4..

confirm 1 chip only lol
but are u sure it is 100% compatible? have u check the diffrence between normal MIVEC vs ralliart MIVEC?
i mean im quite sure there is other parts upgraded right? like injector etc?
what if the ECU cannot unleash the potential due to restriction?

True.. best to get it from someone reputable.. I remember someone offering rm400 for re-chipping with modification of the chipping bracket with a zero insertion force one... means if i wanna put the chip in, i jes hv to slide it in... if to hard solder, he charged me 300... he even said he will plug in a chipped ECU first to test.. If I'm happy he'll do it.. Dang.. I lost his contact..

like that ah? so all people who say rs is terbalik then wrong lah doh.gif including me..

bro dexter..

can u actually drive a fast car slowly sweat.gif surely hard to resist the MIVEC roar rclxms.gif

bro kevin

then..compare with adj. pulley + regulator VS 4-1 extractor?
*
hmm if you want more power, adj pulley + regulator
if you want nice sound, especially very noticeable switchover + fun, 4-1 extractor

bt ur budget can get adj cam pulley n regulator, means u can get a 4-1 and regulator de.. add abt 100 or so only.. the cam pulley later la.. cz u need to tk out timing belt all.. semore tuning it is nt easy.. u must tune then run, tune then run... until ur satisfied

not only injectors.. what about the valve lift duration? did they modified the camshaft? what about the piston type?
i think better pay someone to rechip accordingly to ur engine bro smile.gif

Is DC still continuing the forfour? Thought it was discontinued in '06.

I'm driving the 4G15 Colt '05.

He advises to get it changed since its more than 10 years old... These are the list of capacitors in a 4828 ECU

16v100mf fat
50v47mf fat tall
50v22mf thin tall light blue
50v47mf medium light blue

Rubycon brand

Another branded one is Farnell but I think they only sell in bulk..

rally spec engine is the same as any variant of 4G92 MIVEC
juz that RS model car is stripped to the bottom for lightweight
the main diffrence in the halfcut is:
-definitely no digital aircond
-definitely no automatic
-come with black cover (not too sure if silver available)
*
Black cover is not an indication of RS model, unlike toyota where head color carries a different in spec (like the 4age 20v silver & black top).. there is no difference in horse power between silver or black top Mivec..

there are other features:
1. No power window, onli manual winder.
2. No flippable side mirror.
3. no cromax screen.
4. no recaro seat.
5. 240km/h meter, normal ones are 180km/h (the best indication of an RS variant).

this is as far as i can remember..

Its still 180 kmh but RPM is 10k. If Im not mistaken clusters above 180kmh is for other countries..

as far as re-tuning a car with a modded ecu, the best bet is to get a dyno run with a lamda reading. give it to the tuner and he'll program the chip for optimum performance for your car. those chips that u simply plug in can be quite dangerous to the health of your engine. as a tuner, that's the way i usually go about it.
