Microsoft is investigating the iPhone SDK to find out whether it has profit potential.

According to Fortune, for a little more than a week a team of Microsoft engineers has been examining the iPhone SDK to find worthwhile opportunities to sell iPhone software.

"It's really important for us to understand what we can bring to the iPhone," Tom Gibbons, corporate vice president of Microsoft's Specialized Devices and Applications Group, told Fortune on Monday. "To the extent that Mac Office customers have functionality that they need in that environment, we're actually in the process of trying to understand that now."

"We do have experience with that environment, and that gives us confidence to be able to do something," Gibbons said. "The key question is, what is the value that we need to bring? We're still getting comfortable with the SDK, right? It's just come out. So we had a guess as to what feasibility would be like, now we'll really get our head wrapped around that."

The iPhone 2.0 Firmware is due at the end of June thus developers have until that time to create new and exciting applications.

I vote for sub-forum, so its easier for everyone to discuss specific issues pertaining to the Iphone. 

Already brought this up to Admin. I put it in as an iPhone/iPod sub forum.
Will let them decide so just hang in there.

You guys need to grow up a bit as well, ok?
It's all about sharing so no need to be elitist just because you think you're a Mac expert (or good at Googling).

whether a subforum or not, it will be no prob as long as there is a 'kedai' for us to come together. btw a subforum will be great!

Has anyone actually care about listing out the reasons why a subforum is needed?

I'm sure there are reasons but that doesn't help if you do not list them out but instead shouted that you want a subforum only.

i think jb/activate/unlock can be pinned under 1 thread
then 3rd party app another, just like hackintosh
and another for general discussion

this way it'll be easier for everyone who wanted to know more info on particular issue instead having to read the whole 200++ pages looking for the information they wan(of coz they can use the search function, but i don't think many people do so). The prb with the current iphone club is there are many question that had been answered being ask again and again..and some just don't bother and create a new thread to ask..

Guys, we know your thirst for a sub-forum.

Allow the Admins & fellow Mods to have some time on the decision.

Meanwhile, just be patient.

Don't you want to find stuff/applications for your ipodtouch (almost similar function with iPhone) in proper order? Rather than browsing through 100s of pages and thousand of post to find out what are the users posting?
