If anyone wants to mod a Grado SR60i, I have a pair of the drivers units + earcups. Needs recabling, as one of the connection is broken off. More detail in the link at my signature. If you want the headband too, I can throw them in as well.

QUOTE(combataran @ Dec 27 2012, 11:51 AM) Thanks. I'll go check it out when I have time. Just a thought, are Grados good for classical music, since that's what I listen to most of the time? They are most suitable for rock. They don't have the biggest soundstage but they're not that cramped. Mids are its best feature. Most of the Grado series I've heard (I only have heard up to the SR125) are not accurate sounding, but they are so good to listen to you just don't care. I don't feel like they're the best for music pieces that are "natural" like a well recorded orchestra. For everything else, they're awesome. |

QUOTE(phillip88 @ Oct 16 2014, 05:12 PM) IIRC "e" supposed to be enhanced or sth. What I read is RS1e has larger driver. Not sure for 60e. But well, I don't think it's night and day difference. Perhaps slightly re-tuned? Can't comment more until we hear it ourselves! They shouldn't stray from their sound sig. If it's physical changes, tuning changes (like smoother treble at higher volumes), it's all good. |

QUOTE(latias93 @ Oct 17 2014, 02:05 PM) Hi guys, I have a couple questions to ask. Many years ago, I was using my dad's SR60i at home, through his hi-fi set up. The sound was beautiful, yes, but I remembered the Grado headphones being so damn uncomfortable because it penyek my ears. Tried the SR80i. It was the same as my SR60i. To relieve some of the pressure, just bend it against the curvature a little at the middle of the headband. You'd have to bend it with considerable force, but not too much. If you've bent it too far it's easy to bend it back in the opposite direction. Now, I am only using the Apple earpods, and I was surprised to see that Grado Labs are still highly favorable and within my budget. I'm thinking about getting the SR80e. Memories of my ears kena penyek is still haunting me - so any sifus here wanna comment if Grado Labs made any improvement on the comfort, especially in the SR80i/e? Many thanks. That, and/or use other pads. I forgot the name, one that comes with the SR125. |

QUOTE(yen262 @ Oct 24 2014, 05:33 PM) They do look good, and people say they're also good as a comfort upgrade. They do make a Grado look (and apparently feel) more classy and expensive.I am considering on buying it for the SR60i and hoping that I could make it sell easier. With the new headband, and the recent recabling, I wonder if I could cover those two expenses, plus add a tiny bit more (still a bit cheaper than new). If I couldn't sell the SR60i with the new headband, then I'd actually lose a lot more money. Decisions decisions. |

Just had my SR60i recabled. Now the length is more manageable, and I'm having a hard time letting it go.

I only have a lowly SR60i.
But I love it! My younger sister broke it. I sent it for recabling, and then my sister bought it off me. |

QUOTE(E1 - AKG @ Jan 3 2015, 08:23 PM) It's not ruler flat, and it doesn't have the nicest looking measurements looking at published measurements all over the net. But, the silky mids, the "bite" of the treble. Bass isn't much but certainly not anaemic. I listen to different kinds of rock and metal, and bass is just enough for most of them. I am in love with how electric guitars sound with these. It's like they're made with guitar amplifiers in mind. It's like having a guitar amp, augmented with a full range. |
