QUOTE ![]() Jerboas are the bulk of the membership of the family Dipodidae; they are small jumping desert rodents of Asia and northern Africa that resemble mice with a long tufted tail and very long hind legs. The small forelegs are not used for locomotion. In general, Asiatic jerboas have five toes on their hind feet and African jerboas have three; the shapes of their ears vary widely between species. Jerboa fur is long, soft and silky. Diet varies considerably: some are specialist seed, insect, or plant eaters, others are omnivores. I saw it in Pets Wonderland before... It has a long huge leg!! Kesian them being locked up in a small place |

This animal is not suitable as a pet. The living requirements is very different from a mongolian gerbil and fat tailed gerbil.
They need space, not just a 2ft tank..... 4ft tank or more. So can someone cope with such a big tank? Also, they are not handle friendly as they will jump as soon as you try to pick them up. |

The correct spelling is Jerboa.... some people call them kangaroo rats coz of their long back legs.
Anyway, they are not suitable as pets, that is why we rarely see them in petshops. Also, they are most likely wild caught animals since Jerboas are not easy to breed. |
