Introduction:

ATX cases have certainly undergone major face lifts since its first debut. However, its not only the appearance that sets a case apart from another but rather the whole package. There are so many factors that contribute to a great case, such as the space, cable management, case build and most important air flow. Lets have a low on how the Silverstone TJ10 ESA performs under various conditions. Silverstone has certainly gone all way out to ensure that their customers leave happy.

QUOTE
To make the venerable Temjin TJ10 even better, SilverStone implemented an ESA controller that works with ESA certified motherboard to provide full system monitoring and thermal control. With 100% control over five 120mm LED case fans, three lighting devices, and four temperature sensors, the user can setup multiple profiles for all types of computing experience requiring exact performance to noise parameters. In addition to the excellent ESA feature, the TJ10 ESA edition also retains the best qualities from the original case such as the mid-section fan dedicated to graphics card cooling, removable motherboard tray, and pop-up front I/O ports, etc... For enthusiasts that need to have precision control of their equipment and want an outstanding design, this is the chassis to have.

What is ESA?
QUOTE
Enthusiast System Architecture, or ESA for short, is a new open, royalty‐free industry standard for controlling and monitoring real‐time devices, with goal of providing a much more immersive experience for enthusiasts. By implementing ESA, PC manufacturers and do‐it‐ yourself enthusiasts can now build finely‐ tuned and higher performance PCs than they could have with existing proprietary solutions. ESA is very similar to any another mechanism for the communication between devices. The difference is, ESA enables devices that do not have a mechanism for communication today such as PC power supplies, chassis, and water‐cooling systems.

Essential data, such as temperature, thermal, voltage, and air flow attributes are made available in real‐time and are critical to obtaining maximum PC performance and overclocking. ESA provides a standard way of communicating with these devices. ESA brings these remaining PC components into the same domain of devices that already have means to communicate with the system.

Special Features :-

-ESA certified for full system thermal management
-Premium all-aluminum chassis for extended ATX, ATX, SSI motherboards
-120mm fan only design for ultimate performance & quietness
-Unprecedented air duct dedicated for graphics card cooling
-Advanced structural engineering with superior chassis stiffness
-User friendly layout with multiple tool-less access
-Classic SilverStone styling and finish

Initial Thoughts:-

It arrived in this very nicely designed box. its certainly a refresher compared to the old design of the Silverstone TJ10 box.

Conclusion :
It is obvious that the Silverstone's innovation has led to yet another success on their cases. The Silverstone TJ10 ESA has a twist to it, the ESA PCB for those hadcore enthusiasts and of course, 5 Green LED fans to accompany the nVidia theme. The case is huge, and its spacious so there is no cable clutter in the air which leads to better air flow and for those that already know, better air static pressure. Installing Water Cooling into this case was a pleasure and delight as it was so big, it could house all my hardware. The dedicated air duct for graphic cards in mind is also a sign of pure brilliance. what else can you ask for in a case?

Pros :-
-High Quality and Sturdy build
-Spacious
-Nice brushed aluminium
-Great design
-ESA circuit board for ESA support (for those who need/use it)
-Dedicated air duct for PSU at the bottom
-Green LED fans included in this ESA edition
-Aeroslots included
-Can take the case apart in a matter of minutes with a screw driver

Cons:-
-Found many scratches inside the case. Maybe its quality control or the fact this is a review unit
-Should have water cooling users in mind who own Triple 120MM radiators
-door feels a tad bit flimsy when slammed

Overall, i award this case a hefty 9/10!

A special thanks to David and Jack of InterAsia and Fransiskus of Silverstone Taiwan for making this review possible

Cool! Btw, good job on the review!  Very neat cable management! thumbup.gif

Damn this casing looks freaking huge; especially the interior!

Isn't this the same with the non-ESA model, besides the ESA feature and 3 extra fans?
If the price is the same with non-ESA, i don't mind getting this model.  tongue.gif

Can ask for your help with the cm if i ever get one unit?  laugh.gif
*
yeah i'll see what we can work out together.
price is slightly more than the normal edition

Wanted to know more about the ESA PCB for fans, lights and thermal probes.  hmm.gif

And is the review unit for sale later?  nod.gif
*
well basically you need an nvidia 790i board to use this board and nvidia has a control panel which allows users to on and off lights, monitor temps and speed of fans.
sorry, its not for sale. ive already done some mods on it and my WC loop is already in it smile.gif

QUOTE(justin78 @ Mar 23 2008, 02:00 AM)
Is the PCB board just for powering the fans or we can use it to control the fan speed as well?
*
yeah can use to control the speed but like i said, you need a 780i board

QUOTE(LExus65 @ Mar 23 2008, 09:35 AM)
now dunno whether to get a TJ-07 or this ESA TJ-10......... the price seems quite good too...
*
actually, TJ07 is definitely more spacious, but i love this case cause its just nice

hm, you mounted the 3x120mm rad without any mods or there is mod done ?
*
it took me 6 hours of drilling and cutting some aluminium pieces and then had to trim some bolts and nuts short so that it'd fit

Nice case here indeed.

Just wondering there bro, it comes together with all the green led fans?

Meaning 3 fans for top panel alone?

P.S - You sure you are using Mars as test bed tongue.gif It seems like an ROG mobo though
*
told ya the pic was the one with the WC kit in it.
my test bed used a TR 120EX remember? smile.gif

its no typo tongue.gif

Nice casing bro... so does it means Asus Striker II Formula can support this casing?
*
yeah the asus striker 2 should be the new heart of the pc.
too bad i cant afford to let go of my Maximus Formula.

QUOTE(akachester @ Mar 25 2008, 12:21 PM)
LOL..My bad.

But WC really fits in nicely in the case indeed. A triple rad should be easily fitted on the top right?
*
well, to me its just big enough to fit inside. anything more, it'd be overkill.
yeah the triple rad fits well but bare in mind, the mesh on the top is not big enough to allow 100% air flow out.
about 20% airflow is blocked

*
