Is the promotion still on right now for this phone? Is it going to be obsolete soon?

Can I ask how much is this phone going for right now? The other day I saw it was going for RM1099. I thought it's RM999. Also, what do the box contains (in KL)?

Hi I acutally got it for RM999. However, I only got one Battery as they said for the 2nd batt to be included, the deal is RM1199. So I might just get one extra battery later.

Thanks for the Screen protector guy info. I acutally got a screen protector from Summit for RM10 but he is selling for RM3 or RM4... very cheap.

Where did you get the Golla Pouch? I have been looking hi and low for one.

The ROM IB1 does not seems to be too stable for me though. I upgraded to this ROM but downgraded back to HL2.

Do share with us onthe HI1 firmware. I want to upgrade it if it's stable. Which Samsung FMG did u go to for the upgrade? The version in internet is still IB1 though.

I can confirm this phone is really a rare breed in KL at least. I have been hunting for an extra battery in a few shopping malls but to no avail. They do not carry even the generic battery like Momax brand! I ask the shop keeper why is that and they said people looking for i780 accessories is really rare. Nevertheless, i find that this phone functions are perfect for my use. Maybe ppl really go for style instead... i guess.

I think the very basic stuffs that you need to make sure is (from my upgrading experience)...

1. I have a lot of problem with Vista. XP works perfect
2. Under USB to PC, uncheck the "Ena adv network func".

That's my over generalized problem solving that I have :-p.


Also remember to backup! I use PPCPimBackup... it's a freeware, Google for it :-).

Today I called Samsung Summit regarding to the battery and the desktop charger. Well, they currently do not have stock for the i780 battery and will be ordering in. I am gettiing it for RM127 and the Desktop charger cost RM81.

Jackparcel, for Fring, you can actually disable the automatic connection. When you connected to Fring, go to option and select "Disable Automatic Connection" or something like that. Now you will see it says enable Automatic Connection. It works the other way round. For this issue, upgrading ROM would not help.

I tried it on my Brother in law's i600 Celcom 3G. Some places is really slow especially suburbs area. It's really fast in town. Maybe it's the signals. Yeah 3G really sucks your battery dry fast. I guess that's why we have got the 2nd battery.

I think Red would be a really nice color for this phone. Too bad no more official upgrade to WM6.5 for this phone. It's a really nice phone. Have been using it for a while and love it a whole lot.

I think you got yourself a really good deal there. I got mine RM999 without the 4GB, the Desktop charger and the 2nd batt.

Have anyone configure i780 to use as a modem with Digi 3G broadband before?

Yes, so far the latest Firmware is doing great on my i780.

The voice quality on normal call and speaker phone is superb in my opinion. So far I have no problem corresponding when i turn on the speaker phone in the car.

Added on January 30, 2010, 9:30 pmI believe you will have to retrive all your files and do a format on your card. When I first got my 4gb card, I used it without format. I had some inconsistency with delete and copy. However, after I did a format on my PC, I have no problem with it for months now.

My experience is this... When the phone goes to standby mode and then when you turned it on again, the Wifi will try to reconnect. During this time, since the web application did not detect a connection via wifi, it will initiate the 3G/E/G/3G+. You can get the NoData apps to force the data connection off. If you have Data Package, the only way to go is when you turned on your phone again, make sure you wait till the wifi connection is connected before you click on the Web apps again. :-)

Just want to find out if the mouse/non-mouse is supported on WM6.5? I heard a lot that there is an issue with this in the past....
