My current setting is 2nd lowest and I am averaging 6-7 hours of gameplay. The manual tells me to expect at least 10 hours. My questions are:-

1) Manuals being manuals, is this the general expected hours for that setting?

2) Are there 'compatible/3rd party' (alright, fake) battery or charger for the NDSL?

Will appreciate all comments, thanks notworthy.gif

I find that turning down the volume to nothing will extend gameplay by a bit more, by an hour or so (for games like Phoenix Wright where sound is not mission critical). Of course, if you are playing in a cold room, the battery seems to last longer - at least that's the feeling I got when I did so without any empirical evidence to back up my statement tongue.gif

Generally speaking, the older your battery gets, the less charge it is able to hold.

And yes, there are third party batteries/chargers for the NDSL around.

u c, the graphics of a game do affect the battery life too. if you play games wif heavy 3d graphics, it will tend to suck up more the power, hence shortening the battery life.

Yeah, I have also heard about the volume setting having an effect on the battery but its all through unofficial channels. Any fr Nintendo to back this up?

Darn, got third party... Was asking coz was afraid my unit's battery/charger was switched with 'compatible' ones.... Mine's 2 mths old only.

Thanks, Reapies rclxms.gif

I find the lowest setting a bit dark for me sad.gif

Anyhow, if you go lowest everything, then you should pack at least 15 hrs! (What the manual says, whistling.gif )

Thanks for feedback, PhoenixByte thumbup.gif

To my concern use of headphones or ndsl speakers it doesn't effect the ndsl battery for me so far. i'll try and confirm to
with u all later on.

However though, please note that those with R4, Supercard, M3 etc. cartridges for both nds and ndsl do effect battery
power if left inserted in either slots. Using them with ur nds or ndsl the battery will last for a duration of 2 - 4 hours
depending on the brightness level and volume settings. Also note that it REDUCES the number of times for recharging
ur nds or ndsl battery so BEWARE!!!! icon_idea.gif

They eat up more battery power when compared to retail carts, when your console is swithched "ON". That's about it.

Lowest brightness + earphone = 7 hours max till red light...

Using the earphone or internal speakers have a difference in power consumption...
And also 3d game need more power...

From experience... when the light turn red when using the speaker...
After i switch to earphone or turn off the speaker...
It would immediately turn back to green for another 30min or more...

"if left inserted in either slots"... - Of course when playing, it has to be inserted, but do you mean that we can prolong the battery life if we take it out when NOT PLAYING?

"REDUCES the number of times for recharging ..." - This means battery life shorten, right? BTW, how many times can we charge the battery before it 'starts dying'?

Thanks, BlackKri, for another perspective on this thumbup.gif

Really ah?! shocking.gif Maybe this answers the question which of either headphones or speakers uses more battery power ... hmm.gif

"Turn off the speakers" - Meaning turn down the volume all the way is it? Can 'turn off' meh?

Anyway, will try this when the red light pops up. Thanks for sharing, James rclxms.gif
