Dude, you're using tracer, what do you expect?
Try a ballistix non tracer, then you'll see the differences in themal performance dude. laugh.gif

Come come sell your tracer and buy ballistix 4gb from me. tongue.gif

Reaper offcourse. Because the heatsink for reaper is bigger.
However, in terms of overclockability, Crucial wins.

Sorry, missed out this reply earlier biggrin.gif I didn't know that few LED's would cause so much of problems. If only I know the non-Tracers are a lot cooler, I would've bought that.
Btw, no $$$ to get 4GB. Got easy payment like Sen Heng? laugh.gif

The tracers were hot because if you look properly under the heatspreader, you'll see the differences between ballistix and ballistix tracer. Owh wait, you didn't have the non tracer. Hmm..

Owh well, i'll just explain.
Okay, Tracers are hot not because of the LED's.
Tracer high heat is caused by the LED Controller chip on the middle of the ram.

Take out your ram and you'll see a chip on the middle of the ram.
Ballistix doesn't have that. Only ballistix tracer has that chip.

Dude, my advice, don't buy the OCZ XTC.
It's crap. Real crap. The Vizo Armada that u're using right now is alot better than the OCZ XTC.

Trust me, it's proven.
The OCZ XTC may look better than the Vizo Armada, but in real world performance, it's not. smile.gif

Just sell it back.
Have you ever wondered why most OCZ XTC stays in less than 1 week with it's original owner?
Google around the Garage Sales and look for those that sells OCZ XTC and ask them how old is thier OCZ XTC.
You'll find out that they use it in a very short time.

Don't bother asking them about performance because offcourse they'll praise because they want to sell it.
But in real world performance, it's super crap.

The OCZ XTC weakness isn't just about the noise.
It's the airflow too.

The airflow is too weak for a ram active cooling that big.
Even the Vizo Armada can beat it.

Offcoruse, Vizo Armada isn't the best.
The best is still the AllnGap Dual 60MM Ram Cooler. thumbup.gif

You don't have to do a review to know how it performs.
I know how does it perform just by looking at it's build.

I may not say this a lot, but if you don't believe me, ask csktl1, he's a real ram expert, both overclocking and cooling.
He himself bought an OCZ XTC, he use it for only 15 minutes and gave it to other people for free. Why? Because it's crap. Pure crap.

One my point you must know, Good brand doesn't mean it'll always build good products.
Sometime, it's more to marketing strategy. And that OCZ XTC is one of their marketing strategy.

OCZ XTC may be the best looking Active Cooling for ram, but in performance, honestly, it's the worse.
Even worse than the Vizo Armada.

Guys, look at these sweet ram heatspreaders.
IMO, It's even better than Thermalright HR-07.

Someone is bulking it right now at uber cheap prices.
Cheap if compared to Thermalright HR-07 & HR-07 Duo thumbup.gif

what do you think about the performance
between Corsair dominator airflow VS OCZ XTC VS Vizo Armada?
in terms of performance , later by it's look.

rgds
That's easy.
The Corsair Dominator Airflow wins in the battle of the three you mentioned. In terms of performance.
Vizo armada goes to 2nd place.

In tems of aesthetics, offcourse the OCZ XTC wins, but you wouldn't want to sacrifice performance just for the sake of making your rig beautiful right?

But then, nothing can beat our own legendary AllnGap Dual 60MM Ram Cooler. thumbup.gif

I think you don't get what I'm trying to say. Anyway if you look carefully at those DeepCool ram sinks, it resembles a product of another brand. Besides, there are also China made TRUE look-alike.

I saw some plain Aluminium heatspreader for DDR/DDR2 at All-IT selling at RM6 each. I wonder how good are those for DDR2-800. Maybe it's heat generator instead of doing what it does.

Every electric / electronic devices produces heat.
The cooler they are, the better they perform.

So if you love your ram, and you have an intention of using that ram for a long time, then a active ram cooler is a must.

Also, please use english.

If Arctic Cooling RC Turbo Module can support Arctic Cooling RC ram heatspreader which is uber high, offcourse it can support most ram heatspreader.

Arctic Cooling RC Turbo Module is even higher than Corsair Dominator Airflow.

No, it's just a matter of either you love your ram and have an intention of using it for a very long time, then yes.

Active ram cooler won't boost the performance of your system.

Remember what i've said above.

Again, please use english language.

direct blow is definitely better.....after the fan blows onto Gemin 2 heatsink, the air is already lose pressure and distorted.
unless you use super high pressure fan for the Gemin 2, then the case would be different

AllnGap's Ram Cooler are better off in performance than OCZ XTC or Corsair Dominators
aesthetically its not as appealing as the other two....but far better in performance

but if u like, ive seen several mods done to the XTC and Dominators by changing their fan
you will need to know how to connect the 3fans together under 1 molex though

and even the dominator is actually not that bad if u peel off the sticker
its a actually a black alu finish

Need to ask something here guys, recently purchase a few piece of Value Rams and had been thinking about installing a ram heatspreader on it. But i am worried, it will void the warranty. Will it void the warranty and is it possible in the future if i wanted to warranty, to peel off the heatspreader without damaging the sticker on the chipset?

what kind of heat spreader that's in your mind?

if you are looking for those like the TR HR07 kind of heat spreader,
then the thermal adhesive tape that bundle with it is very easy to remove. No need extra force and cleaning agent, just purely peel it off.
it's like those used in Mosfet heatsink adhesive tape, kind of like ...
so no worry about that.

what you should be worry is the warranty sticker that attach to the chiset of the ram. They tend to get 'hancur' if wanted to peel it off

This active cooler has a big turndown.
In order to use it, you'll have to sacrifice 1 ram slot.

If your system is based on 4 ram slots, you can only use 3 slot, sacrificing the ability of using 4 sticks in Dual Channel.
If your system is based on 6 ram slots, you can only use 5 slot, sacrificing the ability of using 6 sticks in Triple Channel.

PS: Thread Updated.

AllnGap seem like super busy, ask several times still haven't reply me abt his Ram Cooler. sad.gif

I am having the issue that Processor heatsink Fan that cover the 1st ram slot, beside change to smaller heatsink fan, I am looking for a ram cooler which have position adjustability that similiar to OCZ XTC memory cooler (move left / move right) & visibility of RAM activity L.E.D, instead no choosing the OCZ because the actual size is too big to fit the remained space.

Now running the Crucial Ballistix Tracer under hot condition is worrying its lifespan.

A few Q's:
1. The warranty sticker on the RAM chip has any impact on RAM cooling or not? Like making hot spot underneath?
2. I would like to install the heat spreader on my VLP Kingston ValueRAM (making them ValueX = HyperX wannabe smile.gif ) and i wonder if there's a way to remove the warranty sticker nicely so that when accident happen and I need to RMA I can still pasang balik the sticker without traces?
