May I ask if anyone is using the Enterprise 1.0MB package ? Did you guys experience any distruption during these few days as well compared to normal Streamyx package ? My side at Taman Shamelin has been very unstable these days. I'm not sure if it's my router causing the problem as I have to reset it quite constantly to get a stable connection and after a few minutes the problem starts again. I even got high ping rate (1K+) to yahoo.com. I am really frustrated and dissapointed as there seems to be no report of any service distruption what so ever from their side or even in the news. This really is unacceptable as my company rely on the internet for data transfer/VPN service.

Another thing is their CS really sucks (most of the time). They should know by now that we only call them when we really have problem yet the still repeat the same thing :

1) Check/Reset Modem
2) Check if phone line pass through filter
3) Test result from Speedometer (TMNet side)
4) Say "Our side has no such problem" & repeat step 1-3
5) After a you get tired of explaining Lodge report & get case number
6) After a few days if no call case close without informing customer as if nothing happens.

I've just talk to one of the CS the other day to check if we have a PTR (Pointer Record) for our static IP/Help us create one as only the provider of the IP address can do so. I don't blame the CS for having no knowledge of this but the supervisor as well !? Then she told me that she cannot help and she cannot pass me to someone who can. I really hate the fact that we cannot directly contact the "real" technical department and have to lodge a report (which evetually will be close in a few days). Can anyone tell me who I can contact in TM that know about this stuff !!?? I would be most greatful

Somtimes I don't even know why I bother to contact CS as I have the feeling I'm not getting any result out of them sad.gif .

(Sorry about the long rant but I'm quite frustrated these few days on this matter)

I'm wondering. Does this affect only Streamyx users or does it also affect other broadband users (like Maxis, Izzi, P1...etc) as well ?

Strangely my problem is not with browsing or downloading but with online gaming. I tried port forwarding the game network port but it doesn't seems to improve much. I'm hoping they can fix it by today as there will be an in-game event tomorrow that I wouldn't want to miss sad.gif . There's also something I don't understand.... why is this mostly affecting certain functions like browsing/direct download/online game but not affecting BT/Youtube...etc ? unsure.gif

News flash guys....the TMNet's restoration is delayed until 4th Jan 2009. Anyway...... I've done some testing with my online game (Guild Wars) yesterday and found out something interesting :

1. Try port forwarding the game's ports (different game different port) to port 80 if you are using a router. That seems to reduce some (but not much) of the lags in the game during TMnut down period.

2. I tried getting the IP addresses that strats with 118.100.*.* . This range of IP doesn't seems to be affected much (not sure about other IP range but my guess is those that starts with 11*.*.* is not affected).

Getting to do both will be good. I'm not sure if this can be apply to other games as well but it seems workable. You guys can try it and maybe post some feedbacks. Please note that this is not a 100% solution so good luck.

Does anyone know what does the IP 219.93.218.177 connect to ? I find that timeout always occur on this IP when I do a tracert to certain sites. Additional note is that this IP is most of the time is 3rd on the tracert list. It seems to be one of the possible cause of slowdown for Streamyx connections in the KL region (or maybe others but I'm not sure). hmm.gif

Hey guys. I would like to ask a noob question. I usually get the following IPs in my area :

60.49.*.*

60.50.*.*

118.50.*.*

Before the undersea cable incident I'm getting good connection from both IPs that start with 60 but recently 60.50.*.* is starting to get slow. It's quite noticable when loading streaming videos (youtube) where 60.49.*.* will continuously load while 60.50.*.* will play 5 sec stop...load for a few sec...then play again...(repeat). Does this mean there are still routing problem for the the IP segment that starts with 60.50.*.* ? I have also notice international sites load considerably faster when going through proxy servers (www.sureproxy.com) but very slow when I access it directly. (e.g. www.tfw2005.com). Hope someone here can help clarify this.

Thanks.

QUOTE(LNB @ May 26 2009, 03:31 AM)
bro, whats your current IP range? try getting a better IP range which usually fixes this problem (alas temporary?)
*
Tried that. Getting the same result from all 3 IP range (time out/take 2-3 minute just to log in). I don't mind a slow connection... it's the unstable connection which frustrate me the most and I cannot do anything about it except complain to Streamyx which yield no result in the end. I guess what they say is true that TMNet (or maybe Malaysia) international internet routing is so crappy that it may be the possible cause of the slow connection to international websites and I doubt that they will be fix anytime soon....sigh sad.gif .
