Malaysia's International Bandwidth Couple days ago Telegeography has reported that "TM (Telekom Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.) set to increase backbone internet capacity". By quoting COO of TM Global (a subsidiary of TM) Rozaimy Rahman, it was said that till the end of this year TM will have 100 Gbps capacity. This will further be increased by 30% to 130 Gbps in 2009 to accomodate demand for online services. TM is surely not the only player in the business, but it of course the major player. TdC is another player but since some times ago also controlled by TM. How about Global Transit ? How about other players (if any) ? Any advise is welcome :-D Source : http://soft-brain.blogspot.com/search/label/Malaysia |

TM set to increase backbone internet capacity
Telekom Malaysia has revealed plans to increase its broadband infrastructure capacity by 30% to 130Gbps in 2009, citing a rise in demand for online services as the main driving factor. Malaysian news source The Star Online also reports that the telco plans to increase its bandwidth to 100Gbps by the end of 2008, up from the 90Gbps it presently offers. Rozaimy Rahman, COO of TM Global, a subsidiary of TM, noted that rising demand has been driven by an increase in the number of voice calls, the growing number of home offices and the rise of high definition TV content. source : http://www.telegeography.com/cu/article.ph...5974&email=html |

Penang’s free internet projects move forward
Malaysian news source The Edge Daily is reporting that the free Wi-Fi internet project in Penang will proceed, despite opposition to the scheme expressing concerns about health implications. The project will see the entire state gain free access to internet services, and the project is due for completion within two years. Two operators have agreed to invest in the state, REDtone, which pledged MYR10 million (USD2.8 million) to the scheme, and Packet One Networks (P1), which said it would invest MYR20 million. The state government is still understood to be looking for additional partners in the project. Free Wi-Fi access is expected to launch in public areas around Komtar next week, courtesy of REDtone. P1 will meanwhile roll out WiMAX services, although this will be a paid-for service. |

QUOTE(unified @ Dec 24 2008, 01:54 AM) hi guys, I am disagree with you. I am using Jaring and Streamyx as well...i would like said to said that, TM Net is the the best that i can stick with. Sure everyone will disagree with me. Below is my experience of other broadband; Jaring - sometime slow sometime fast. coz there are still depend on TM Net Airzed - Wireless connection is not stable yet. Sure you will encounter connection problem during lunch hour Izzi - The tech guy come to my house at SS2 to do testing. Through the phone, they said connection can reach 1Mbps but during the testing, it can't reach 300kbps. Maxis Broadband - All my friend is getting their refund from Maxis because of the poor service Celcom 3G - is like "ChipsMore", now you see, now you don't. Means connection is not stable at all. No connection at Genting Highland at all. Maxis 3G is more better. Please do not scold me as i am only sharing my experience. Jaring is 3x time better than Streamyx. beside than, I dont think Jaring still using any TM backbone anymore.. I did a tracert using jaring, they are using Asia Netcom Corporation FLAG Telecom Network Services GLOBEINTERNET TATA Communications ![]() I'm using Jaring Wired. Beside than, TM only got 100Gbps to serve 1.5million streamyx users and Corporation and Data centre. http://www.capacitymedia.com/images/librar...%27_Zam_Isa.pdf This post has been edited by Suk: Dec 24 2008, 06:05 PM |
