Got quite a few. Air Supply, MLTR, Air Supply, Kitaro Kojiki, Live in America, Teresa Teng last concert, Lobo in Asia.
Nope, I'm not giving those up yet. 2 of those are collector items now.

Haha...you're right. These things now considered antique. Have you set-up ur players? Try with the audiophiles system and switch to the analog track, you'll be surprised how the sound is more punching than digital track... icon_idea.gif

Well, some of those do not have Dolby 5.1 or DTS, just PCM stereo. Anyway, I least expect ultimate sound from those discs. Just that I enjoy more watching the artists perform. I believe they were filmed with analog video tape at that point of time, not as clear as current Hollywood movies. BTW, I happen to have the DVD version of some of those titles. Its all just as enjoyable.

I have Megahit 7, MLTR plus Bon Jovi Crossroads on LD as well. Besides this, I have Vivian Chow's and Beyond's concert on LD as well, both bought from my friend. All are really collector's item by now. Hahaha. Funny thing, LD players only support S-Video the most, no chance to use Component Video.

Component video wasn't invented back then. Afterall with 350 lines resolution compared to DVD's 480 lines, there's only so much the picture can be enhanced. S-Video was quite sufficient in its heyday, not to mention only bigger TV's in Malaysian homes had S-video input. My damn TV doesn't even have CV input...sigh!
Consider ourselves fortunate now with cheap DVD playes having the works.

Actual laserdisc resolution is 425 lines compared to DVD 480 lines, and we are unlucky to get PAL version that's reaching to 625 scan lines.... ohmy.gif (source wikipedia.org and ebay.com)

In reality, you get a maximim of 350 lines to a TV size of 31" and it depends on the kind of input to TV.
The LDP can have 440 lines on paper but reality is different, which is why I say 350 lines.

I just tested my LD player on my Full HD LCD tv, the picture looked okay but sadly, all LD movies in widescreen are not anamorphic so it looked like a 4:3 movie with black borders from top, bottom, left and right, when I hit the wide zoom button, the picture becomes pixelated. Hahaha. Guess, it's best to use a LD player with a CRT tv.

I still got a Pionner LD player sitting at my parents' home with few LDs. One of it is the Jurassic Park (Japan ver) which is darn good at that time.

erm...maybe you have to try some upscale conversion to get good pictures from this LD. Some of Denon AV processor have video upscale from even normal RCA videojack.... blush.gif

Upscale? I have tried, the problem is LD movies are not in anamorphic widescreen so the picture won't fit in nicely on a LCD tv unless you hit the zoom button on the remote which will result pixelated pictures.
