I put 1/4 shutter, 5.2 aperture, dunno ngam or not. where should I place my figure under the lights? before the lights, or behind the lights, or just below the light source ?

what sort of camera are you using? if auto.. there's really not much that you can do...

as for shutter speed... try various ones... for me, it was a lot of trial and error...

as for light source, really depends on the effect that you want... i prefer pictures with the light source in front of the figure rather than behind... but i still use flash

here's a samples...

I am using canon powershot, considered semi auto, should be sufficient?

powershot.. auto cam... quite hard to try various settings cause a lot are preset...

you could try moving your light source a little further, it seems to be flooding the OP... have u tried taking with flash on?
experiment till you find the right mix.. then you'll take amazing shots


this pic was taken too close... so the OP was over exposed with light from the flash

i'm also still learning... but i guess it's about preference.. no one can tell you how to take a good photo.. something may look bad to you, may look unique to someone else
