My 360 when reading disc is so much more noisier compare to my friend's, despite I bought mine 6 months later.

Any remedy for it?

first of all, is your console modded?

Errm it's the dvd-drive. It makes really loud grinding noise compared to my friend's one =/

er, guess no one will kill you for a modded console .
worst come to worst , you will not get support / help from the forum, i guess ^^

okay, as for as i know, here is the root cause
media issue - bad/poor media will resulting the drive give extra juice to read the disc, so it will give louder noice to read those discs

modded console's firmware- depend on the configuration of the firmware, since the firmware will 'tell' or force the console to read only at certain speed. So higher speed reading = louder noise

Guess this all i able to share and please correct i am wrong. Hope this will allow you to understand your console better

i tot modded consle will let ur lense last longer since it will reduces the speed or disc spin...

maybe..maybe laa ur drive indicate dead symthom which is
the readable disc error wil come to u

Try putting your xbox in another room and then play.

No obviously, but you won't hear the noise if you out it far enough .

i think may be his ben q dvd drives got some probs liew ( bukan pasal simptom 3rod )...as far as i know my ben q so SENYAP...smooth..

My modded machine also same lah, especially play DMC4 and Lost Odyssey, but every time i play this game, me sure open my speaker very loudly one, Lost Odyssey's sound n music is very nice.... will looking for its sound track.

may be it depending on the game disc also.

Where u bought ur machine?? If some dvd cannot play, i think u should ask back the ppl who sell xbox360 to u.

thats is one of the reason why am i bought unmodded falcon elite from gamers hideout...

dust can contribute to the noise as well... cos i had 2 consoles.. premium and elite...

premium made noise after a few months cos of dust...

elite was really silent at first but now a bit noisy.. playing cod 4 is the noisiest as it runs on a high frame rate.. no big deal.. just pump teh volume whn u play...

otherwise, spray WD40 in ur disk tray... proven damn quiet...

rattling noise? my benq has a whirring noise, not sure if it's the same or not but i think it's normal. as long as it doesnt scratch ur discs, the drive should be fine. i did ask djinn a few days after i bought my elite (in october) about the noise, he told me his elite unit has the same noise.

My previous 360 wasn't even modded and it was bloody noisy. Eventually it got 3ROD-ed.

Depend on buy console bcoz of the console or buy console bcoz of the game.

i heard b4 that 360 drives also damages DVD disc,it scratches the DVD

yea i got dat problem with my 1st 360. i think they've already rectified it with the introduction of the benq drive though.

i think it depends on the game disc...some of it will make the drive bit noise...
