1st time....when they totally cut off s939, that time I had just bought my X2 3800+ 4+ months ago
2nd time....after so long still suck so bad compared to c2d (EDIT: despite so many broken promises)

Yes..yes..bro ak_khoo is totally right for me amd is enough too satisfy me for now summore cheaper then intel....

AMD is enough to be known as best bang for buck.Even the B3 stepping price X4 procs are cheaper with higher clockspeed than Q6600 eventhough the performance not same.

amd intel, both have their own benefit...
in term in memory..
u cant get those benefit together unless u buy it both as ur rig..or u have mobo that can put two proc together..

price was expensive because of the competitor cant produce the proc that have same level with them..

Btw,i still remember in the past which mobo manufacturer produces slot for P3 and socket for AMD

But last time Intel uses like the Ram one while AMD use socket.

I wonder how if there's a mobo manufacturer could make 2 socket

No i wont really. My main frustration was the s939 to AM2 socket change. After just 4 months a high-end system became obsolete

Currently is just pwnage frm intel. Considering my upgrade just cost me RM130, I tink its still reasonable

we can't really intel is more expensive nowdays given d e2x00 series are doin really good which offer almost 60% & above oc. to be honest, it worths more than gettin a am2 system which cost d same or slightly lower.

i personally believe best bang for bucks nowadays belong to intel e2xxx series bro.

this is what will happen when there's no competition, imagine if amd been wiped out from d cpu market, how much will intel sell their chips?

Always intel follow amd step....
1)rememeber the ddr sdram and rd ram ...y intel no go for rd ram and follow amd use ddr sdram
2)bout the p3 slot 1(with 423 slot) then follow amd stye using fcpga soket 478 ..y intel no go for slot 1 and coming out with slot 2
3)bout the ram DRAM:FSB.....i think p3 system no got tis option while soket A(462) oledi using (intel follow amd 1:1 with p4 and c2d system)
4)amd come out with the proc can oc like amd xp proc and amd 939 or am2 940 (are the 1st p4 soket 478 can oc or not ? (i think u know the question)
5)bout C&Q and HT (i think u know the question)
6)64bit proc ..(for decktop home use) whois the 1st coming out ?(i think u know the question)
7)X2 proc ..whois the 1st coming out ?(i think u know the question)
and blah blah many thing ..i dont to talk much (nanti kena intel fan marah i pulak)

I dont tink you get my point bro. When i bought my old rig 2 years + back, s939 was looking good and looked like it still had future, but then AMD totally abandoned the platform when they switched to AM2, leaving me with few upgrade options.

Agreed....i still prefer AMD C n Q. Intels speedstep voltage cant really be customized much, unlike my C n Q setup with crystalcpuID lastime. That doesnt work with intel proc. Haih....wonder how my electric bill will look like this month

While most of the points are true (AMD does not invent the first 64bit), in IT industry, people wants to talk about now and the future. Not the history. Sad but true.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not an Intel nor an AMD fan. (Although I hate Intel's business practice ) I buy what I think it's worth the money. I think same goes to fellows here.

IMO,no offence..if u did have a lot of budget,go for intel..if u r lack of budget choose AMD..for me i get to know AMD when the first time i saw my fren using AMD Athlon Thunderbird which i think is in the same line with pentium 3 at the time (correct me if i m wrong)..running at the same clock speed the AMD easily pawned Intel in most of the benchmark system..i myself s started to use AMD in my second system using AMD Athlon XP 1500+ at clock speed of 1.33Ghz pairing with DDR266 ram which pawned one of my fren p4 1.7 kaw kaw..i think that have to be the greatest moment for AMD ..but recently AMD did dissapoint me a lot as there aren't any big improvement for AM2 switching from socket939..the reason they came out with AM2 is juz for supporting DDR2 memory (correct me if i m wrong)..did saw a pc magazine last time stating under the same clock speed there is only an overall improvement of 5% between AM2 platform and socket939 platform ..hopefully the upcoming deneb and X3 proc will do better and dun upset we AMD fanboys agn ..

well i got an on topic question to ask all ram sifu:

will the chip limit d oc of ram? we always say chip oc will hindered by ram if d ram is of low grade, but my case is just d other way round... i'm sure most if not all 10 anni are capable of 1200MHz, but i've tried mine on several attempts, failed regardless wat voltage i pumped. d ram was able to do 1096MHz on 1.95v, i wouldn't/don't believe that it can't do 1200MHz. i even tried it w/ 800 multi (d highest we have in am2), still no go. gosh... i wish am2 have 1066 multi... fat dream thou...

@ah_khoo..set divider to 800..oc f3 till 3.0ghz..ur ram will be at ddr1200..pump vdimm until 2.2v..and timing, standard C5.
if still cant..change ur ram slot..if still cant. try single stick
