ok I just got her installed in my case . Before hand I tryed to see if the Themaltake spitit would fit , that is a no go . I have no interference with my Artic 64 pro , but just the legs of the spirit knock up against the 1st PCIE slot .
I removed the NB and SB heatsinks . Get this guys , no paste on the north bridge ! I put some AS5 on it and reinstaled the factory HS. The south bridge had so much white paste on it it was sad . Mine had way too much , so cleaned up that mess and some AS5 to the rescue !
Guys check your heatsinks ! that is probaly why some are reporting high temps !

QUOTE(DevilMan @ Apr 23 2008, 08:42 PM)
You can perform some mild overclocking with the 650w psu.
I believe the 3870 has consume a lot of you psu resources.
You need a good CPU cooler to take up the additional heat.
*
dun think 3870 can suck up so much juice from a 650w bro, it should handle d gfx & oc well enuf. smile.gif

QUOTE(digswell @ Apr 23 2008, 08:43 PM)
Currently most of geforce8200 chipset base mobo running very high temp in stock speed.
if can to oc ,no know what the temp will like ?? maybe can frying the chipset
*
it's not d 1st time nvidia produce hto chipset, even back in s939 days, their nf4 series are known to be hot chicks (chips)... tongue.gif

but to be fair on 'em, their chipset oc quite well, for eg d gud old nf4. smile.gif

QUOTE(DevilMan @ Apr 23 2008, 10:47 PM)
I used before CM extreme power duo and it can hardly oc my proc with 8800gts 640mb.
Hmm, I do believe the min psu requirement for 3870 is 500w real power.
*
bro, u need to know that g80 are known to be power hunger, 3800 series runs alot cooler if compared to g80. wink.gif

yea idle temp for 4200+ oc-ed to 2.67GHz.if load i think around 41-43C
*
58'c is too high for my likin. if possible try to keep it under 55'c. smile.gif

try to reapply thermal compound & reseat d chipset cooler, somethin is wrong there i think considerin d temp... sweat.gif
