Hi guys,

I have bought a laptop from dell last PC fair. But the speaker is kinda faulty whenever I use WMP. It's alright when I use winamp or Real player.

Do you know how to configure it? Where is dell service center in KL/Selangor?

Thanks.

You don't need to go to any DELL service center at all just need to call thier toll free customer service number.

Dimension, Inspiron, Printer, TV, Axim Handheld, Projector & Monitor - 1800-88-1306
Optiplex, Latitude & Precision - 1800-88-0193
PowerEdge & PowerVault - 1800-88-1386

This is the link for their whole list of customer and technical support:

Anyway, it's mentioned that TS is using laptop so it'll mostly be the laptop internal speakers unless TS is using an external speaker but not stated.
By the way, TS just give DELL technical support a call @ 1800-88-1306 since it's toll free. Yon don't have to worry about anything at all.
Just call them and they'll kindly assist you.

Hi All,

Thanks for the reply. Yes it is the laptop internal speakers. Anyway, will try to call. But usually if a change is required, do I need to send it to Penang? You've experience that?

Yeah. Any sound does sound like crap, that includes the trebble and base. I don't know how to explain how it sounded like. Especially the base. It's terrible and it's splitting. Like a hole in your speaker.

Anyway, I'm suspecting the windows media player configuration that causes it. Coz like I said, it's okay when I play it on winamp and realplayer.

THanks again.

I've been a DELL customer for quite some time.
By far, I've claimed quite an amount of warranty from them the most significant one is 2 times Laptop LCD changed due to dead pixels.
I've to say that DELL technical and customer services are superb.
There won't be any charges for parts and labours as long as your laptop is under warranty.
If it's really your laptop speaker being faulty then they will service them at your doorsteps unless stated otherwise by them.
If you still suspect that WMP is the culprit then try:
* I'm using WMP11 for the instructions below
1) Click on the arrow below "Now Playing" tab.
2) Then select "Enhancements" from the drop down menu.
3) Then select "Graphic Equalizer" from the side menu.
4) Click "Reset" on the "Graphic Equalizer" that pops up at the bottom.
5) Close "Graphic Equalizer" by clicking on the "X" on the right of it.
If those steps work then you won't need DELL's assistance but if it's to no avail then simply call them as there is NO hidden charges at all.

You actually can call them and ask them to come over to your site to service it for you.. My past experience with DELL
1) Battery unreliable - Factory defect i think.. Call them and they change it for me ( they come my house )
2) Squeaky keyboard - Factory defect again.. They come my place change
3) Delayed touchpad..- probably factory defect again ..They come my place to change

If your laptop is still under warranty, i guess it shud be free
Thanks

If warranty expired, u need to buy the warranty again
its around 900 if i'm not wrong, i bought it last year cause mobo spoil, if replace whole mobo cost 1.4k, rather buy the warranty cause 1 year some more..

This few month my scoll become crazy sometimes, something when i surf, it will scroll the browse up non stop. i had to shut it down. Is it because of touchpad problem?

My Dell laptop is no longer under the warranty and there's some problem with the screen now.

So i should go to any DELL service center or just need to call their toll free customer service number ?

And is there any Dell service center in KL/Selangor?

(1) in order for dell support team to service yr device, and if your warranty is over, you need to extend yr warranty first; price may wary;

(2) as what i know, those dell onsite support personnel are from CSA;

Have you tried J.J's suggestion on the sound settings in Windows Media Player? hmm.gif Laptop speakers aren't meant to handle excessive bass and treble boost, especially when the laptop's tiny internal power amplifier cannot pump out the watts required. The crap you heard is called "sound clipping" where the output signal level cannot exceed the maximum limit imposed by the amplifier and/or speaker.. wink.gif

Dell Service Center located at No4, Dataran Hamodal, Section 13/4, Jalan Bersatu, 46200, PJ. Opposite with Honda and Next to the Colgate Palmolive. The service provider name is CSC (M) Sdn Bhd. I would advise you to call Dell Support first to clarify all the warranty and services before you sending the laptop go over to the Dell Service Center. Good Luck = )
