This is a portrait of my grandpa. Nothing much to say about this one, he's a happy old man. 
This is a submission for my college assignment too. 
This is a piece which I was deeply inspired by a photographer named Lasse(yes that's his name), aka Nullermanden@ http://nullermanden.deviantart.com/
Check out his portrait series. Seriously great and inspirational photos. I do not know how he edit them but I think that's what made them unique.
Side notes:
On the editing part there's not much to say, I did a raw conversion via lightroom with some necessary tweaking on the "blacks" of the image, then i gave it a major sharpening and little vignetting. The only photoshop'ing is the color tone and a little levels adjustment to give more contrast.
