i am also want to know what is the safe vcore for an intel processor..
*
safe means the lower the better laugh.gif

anyway, intel warranties their processor up to 1.50v for e2xxx series

I noticed significant lag after my system returned from stand by. Somehow, my "instincts" told me to run CPU-Z... And look what I found!

sure, go to bios and change it back lor smile.gif

smells like the bios boot block resetted itself due to OC phail/instable or its a bug with the bios for standby to wakeup.

@Amedion
sorry ya, i couldn't get a replacement card :'<

@joe_star
that is because the north bridge core clock is running on dividers if you drop the cpu multi.

E2160 is 9x multi right?

so when you drop the multi from 9 to 8 and put in 400 Mhz,
the NB internal clock is actually running at 9/8 = 1.125
so, its 400Mhzx 1.125 =450Mhz (1800Mhz quad pumped)

that is why you couldn't get it stable smile.gif

its for ur voltage regulator power design that supply current to ur board...so 6 phase will used more power consumption than 4 phase board...the advantage of bigger phase mobo is the reduces input ripple current and output ripple voltage...which mean more overclock ability, stable current n smaller vdroop...in other words delivers a cleaner and more efficient power to ur cpu....correct me if im wrong...
*
wrong :S

6-phase is more efficient. since the stress on the mosfet is distributed over 6 instead of 4. hence a lower general temp on the mosfets and chokes

mosfets and chokes perform more efficiently when it is cooler, as well as a better cleaner voltage (depending on the filter used)

source: http://www.ortodoxism.ro/datasheets2/8/0uj...fyut2u2qopy.pdf

Page 5: Figure 5, Figure 6 and Figure 7 is the explanation of the efficiency.

This chip is an example of all mosfet's characteristics, that the efficiency and stability drops when temps go higher

i did not misunderstand la doh.gif
@ bolded parts,

my post at #750 it was meant for this statement

forgot to mention also,
vdroop and vdrop is not determined by the phases power available to the cpu. It is dependent on the controller chip installed by the manufacturer.

Just that they have reasons why to allow a larger swing in accordance to Intels specifications for power delivery and may differ from manufacturer to manufacturer

Err........the bolded part in English plz  blush.gif  blush.gif I think I might understand but an explanation would be appreciated  thumbup.gif

the internal NB timings.

it generally affects e4xxx cpu's and certain e2xxx and e6xxx benefiting from the bsel modding to increase the default fsb.

the reason is simple, because the internal NB timings are loosened according to strap. as well as using certain dividers give better oc to the cpu and rams.

The CPUz Vcore reading isnt accurate, I'm getting about 0.04 of Vdroop...set 1.54 in bios but on load i'm only getting 1.50V. should i change my mobo?
*
thats coz software voltage reading is like fortune telling ._." never accurate. not even close.

anyway, what divider are you using and timings?
