I'm planning to play some games after 8 years me not playing

I'm considering to buy either warcraft3 or wow

Here are some questions on wow

1) i've never played warcraft3, will i have problem with wow?

2) If my character died, does that mean i have to start all over again?

3) Do i need to buy the expension set also? Or is the main/first pack good enough?

4) Can i play the expension set without going through the main/first pack?

5) if i didnt play, does my login pass expiry?

6) if i decided to stop for x month and not pay or login, and then play again later, do i have to start all over?

7) how is the gameplay? Is it like ragnarok?

1) Having played Warcrafts 1-3 would help you understand the game's story in detail more than having not played it. That said, it's not required that you play Warcraft 1-3 before playing WoW

2) If you die in the game, your gear loses durability. That's all, no exp loss, no character deletion, no item or money loss. Only cost is repairing

3) The original set is good enough. The expansion is a bonus and helps you to experience the whole game, but is not required. You can play the original game first, but without the added features available in the expansion; can't play Draenei or Blood Elf, can't play Alliance shaman and Horde paladin, can't go to Outlands, can't go past level 60

4) The original is a requirement; without the basic, you won't be able to explore the 2 main continents

5) Once you activate your account, it will always be available. Your play time is dependant on your subscription; 30 days, 60 days, 90 days or 1 year. You can play nonstop for the duration of your subscription period; 24hrs, 7 days nonstop. Once subscription over, have to renew it

6) Your character will remain where it is when you last logged out. Nothing changes. You'd only gain rested experience (helps to level faster) depending on how long you don't play your character. Even if you cancel your subscription, your character will not be deleted

7) Ragnarok wishes it was like WoW. That said, WoW is more in-depth than Ragnarok. Way more in-depth.

*Nope. Grandfathers and grandmothers are playing WoW with their underage grandchildren. If old and young people can do it, so can you.

*No experience loss. Only your gear that you're wearing will have a 10% loss in durability. You'll have to repair regularly.

3) Do i need to buy the expension set also? Or is the main/first pack good enough?
*The first pack only lets you reach level 60 and play in Azeroth. If you want to play the Draenei/Blood Elf faction and visit outlands and new instances/dungeouns, you'll need the expansion.

4) Can i play the expension set without going through the main/first pack?
*Nope.

5) if i didnt play, does my login pass expiry?
*All subscription is based on the time-block that you paid for, whether it's via a credit card or game-time card.


6) if i decided to stop for x month and not pay or login, and then play again later, do i have to start all over?
*Nope, your character remains the same unchanged unless your account was hacked into while you were away.

7) how is the gameplay? Is it like ragnarok?
*Not played Ragnarok but it's like an RPG game only this time on a bigger scale.

Yeah I know. Takes awhile but at least it's easier to look for info and links.

I'm trying to be more consistent with posting up links. Feb and Mar were busy with RL

Having said that, LYN is a source for asking questions but when it comes to digging for useful links, it's not maintained that well. Jom WoW! isn't that much better but hopefully it is still an improvement over the stickies in LYN WoW forums.
