okay, this is my scenario..
i have a old rig, specs as below:
AMD Athlon XP 1.1GHz (with std. heatsink + fan)
MSI MS-6712 Socket A
Nvidia 64mb GeForce2 Mx100/200
160GB 7200rpm HDD (New)
2 x 512 ddr ram
DVD rom
CD-RW
450 watt PSU (from my P4)
Standard Casing
this rig suffers power loss (com restart) whenever the cables are interrupted (just soft touches or movement).. this problem proceeds by affecting the fan to stop and hdd to off and on.
Sometimes, the fan and hdd doesn't run when i on the computer, and by connecting the cables properly will enables the hdd and fan to run.
and also some PSU cables if plugged into the hdd, not able to boot the hdd.
another situation is when i use Nvidia 64mb GeForce2 Mx400, the monitor will off and on several times whenever i'm loading internet explorer. For example, refreshing I.E or loading a page.
But when in idle, its okay.
so i suspect theres a problem with the PSU. about the GC, i not so sure.
so my question is:
1) How do i determine whether for sure its the PSU thats causing this problem?
How to diagnostic? any software to diagnose or manually in a technical way?
2) If PSU is the problem, should i just buy a new casing that comes with PSU itself? or buy only the PSU?
Which is more worth it or should i say wiser move?
3) If advise is to get a casing with PSU, what casing should i get for SOCKET A? Wat PSU watt is enough for my rig? I prefer reliable than performance.
non-related question:
4) Should i get a casing with more fan slots? I use this computer to torrent and web surfing where i'll on the computer for 24/7 long.
note: I thought of changing my casing as well, coz its super old and ugly.
So pros and sifus out there, pls enlighten me up with some advise.
Really would appreciate them very much,
thanks in advance!
