20kb is more than enough. Your avatar is only 3kb, and it hasn't even been resized.

Please bear in mind that not all our members are on broadband connection, and loading a few supersized avatars will take a very long time on a dial up connection.

The size & resolution that is set by the forum admins is more than enough.

Personally I'd prefer bigger size avatars, but I have no problem with compromising for the sake of all Screamyx users

Not sucking up to the admins or anything, but I do think that 20Kb is more than enough. Avatars are merely an identification, and we do have quite a large number of members. There should be a limit to the server space and bandwidth, and its better to allow people to upload more pictures without threads and pictures getting pruned because of avatars taking up lots of space and slowing down the connections.
