UB68 plan = Unlimited ... but FUP applies after 5GB. Once exceeding 5GB, speed will be throttled (we'll have to see if there's actual throttle or not).

lol FUP is a policy
all telcos got FUP to ensure usage fairness among its customers. we can't blame them for having this FUP applied. Data allowance is a commodity. not like Streamyx, say unlimited but throttled like hell! <- not even communicate to its customers properly WHAT is being throttled/capped (even can't cap properly!) for STreamyx, it's not how bad is their line, but how bad is their SETUP! their ppl screwed-up the system and we customers r suffering! |

QUOTE(silvadesk @ Oct 30 2009, 05:14 PM) Great review! I am a maxis user currently and I think I've reached my patience. My bf has been using the UMobile for about a year now and rest assure, he BRAGS about it when we use our broadbands at the same time! So, I'm gonna head down to Sg Wang later this evening and make that change! LOL! b4 UM launches these plans, no1 wants to use cuz all the negative stuffs on the fraud, etc. etc. now, with their new management, everything is getting sorted efficiently! last i check with their CS, there is no throttling (ftp, vpn, etc. etc.) strange that sordanny has issue on ftp. my guess is, some services like ftp/vpn/p2p requires a steady/fast upload speed as well in order to achieve best performance. just guessing though. i don't use ftp/vpn at all |

remember: it's all depend on ur area. this is wireless technology, lots of variables that can affect the performance. |

QUOTE(gwong @ Oct 31 2009, 02:05 AM) Just paid RM199 for a new data sim + modem. But the new line not activated yet so using the old UM data sim. Btw, I just think that there are some small problem here. My intention is to actually keep my earlier data sim (been using for around a month) and pay RM199 to get the modem and 3 months usage. But found out that I have to register for another U68 data sim, which mean I have 2 UM data sim on my name right now. Anyway, I am going to cancel the one that I've been using and use the one that I've just paid RM199. I just think that UM's management on user accounts is a bit messy. Why can't they just let me top up on my existing account and less the hassle. Now I have to go to Time Sq. and cancel off my earlier U68 surf without modem package. Anyway, this promotion is still worth it. I am using the modem now. Speed is actually about 2.0MB/s. Btw, the E220 is only a 3.6MBs modem, will upgrade it to 7.2MBs later. yeah, the previous U68 SURF is not the same as current UB68. better cancel the previous U69 SURF and stay with UB68. btw, i was told that UM's billing will be ON TIME now! |

QUOTE(gwong @ Oct 31 2009, 07:08 AM) Bro, I hope I can achieve that also...that it only the top rate speed done via speedtest.... Anyway..download speed is round 100KB/s-150KB/s. at a slightly congested area (i.e. residential areas) would get this avg speed. at home, lowest: 100-150KBps. avg: 250KBps. top: 3xxKBps <-- at lowest speed, it's still faster than shitmyx 1M line at KL city, always around 3xx-4xxKBps |

QUOTE(gwong @ Oct 31 2009, 07:16 AM) Totally agree... TMNut sucks!! My brother is on it and keep on complaining. I am going down KL again today..will check out the speed in KL today... doesn't matter if it's wimax, digi, celcom, maxis, or u mobile. as long as they can provide affordable plans + faster-than-shitmyx, then i'm all happy. tmnet/shitmyx should not be even operating at all. their crappy services doesnt deserve our respect/praise. |

QUOTE(alvinddm @ Nov 1 2009, 11:15 PM) I've got the link from a reply in this topic too.. http://www.mobilebroadbandrocks.com/e220-7...ion-11117100200 Follow comment #4 and for the dashboard which will replace the mobile connect to mobile partner, use the 3rd link from the following http://www.huawei.com/mobileweb/en/doc/lis...?type=-1&id=736 I didnt do and comparison b4 and after firmware and dashboard upgrade, got the modem straight away upgrade. i just like to keep thing updated. isn't the dashboard from Maxis = Mobile Partner? the one from Huawei = Mobile Connect. so, using Huawei's dashboard should replace Mobile Partner -> Mobile Connect |

it's a known fact that UM uses shared IP (private). every1 has the same IP. so if more ppl at the same area uses it, the slower u'll get.

QUOTE(Alphawolf @ Nov 4 2009, 11:25 PM) i hope so bro..sick of changing companies all the time at least now the downloads are faster than my old Izzi..but still quite disapointing. let's see if it improves over the few days. i am willing very much to have Umobile succeed i checked their coverage map, it seems Taman Wawasan, Pchong is 'neighboring' a no-signal area. that means the nearest tower to u is somewhere on the WEST. This could explains why ur signal + performance is poor. not all places have good signal PLUS performance. at my place, i got average signal with average performance. download only average, but sometimes very bad. Also, it's a "blackhole" area too. i called up CS to check. they said my area has high-utilization aka slightly congested. <- no wonder! anyways, i am still patiently wait for UM to upgrade/enhance my area (and so do ur area too!) <-- reason, DiGi/Maxis/Celcom/P1 SUX BIG TIME! Only U Mobile's can beat them (at my area la) rememeber, always give their CS a call. ask them to log a report. give them more details to work with. We as their customer need to help them to help us back! p/s: Alphawolf, what's ur average download speed? Which floor r u at? |
