I have a suggestion to prevent conman:

1. The forum admin provide a bank account, if can register a bank account using lowyat.net will be better.

2. Everyone who don't have the confidence to trade with the seller using bank - post, they can bank in the amount into the above bank account, plus some service charge, maybe Rm 1 or Rm 2, (from the previous case, i think many ppl will choose this way to prevent trade with conman, then we can use the money to keep this forum alive.)

3. After deal, the seller should fill in a form and submit to the admin or mod, state down the buyer, amount deal, and some other information.

4. After admin or mod confirm the report, will send a email or pm the buyer to make the payment, (if the forum can automatically generate a report to buyer will be better, )

5. After the buyer bank in the money, they should reply the email or pm and attached together with the prove of bank in. after admin or mod confirm. They will send an email or sms seller to do the posting.

6. After seller do the posting, they should update with the tracking as a prove.

7. After buyer received the thing, they should inform the admin.

8. After admin confirm, the amount will be sent to the seller. If the buyer didn't make any report within 7 days, like the thing received not the thing post in the forum, or the condition not as stated and etc, the payment should be cleared.

I think although this way will take longer time to finish the whole transaction, but is safer for buyer, so many new forumer will choose this way.

Lastly, sorry for my english, i hope everyone can understand what I'm talking, and also please give some suggestion.
Thank.

Man that sounds like a lot of work ...

Perhaps small transactions eq. less than RM50, should be negligible. Otherwise even a small deal would be a pain in the ass biggrin.gif

Agree but with my 2 cent. I mean this aint Ebay where 200-300 workers work day and night right. But I really² agree this should be an alternative way to do safe trade.

Actually your suggestion is good. But won't works in LYN. Tons of works for the mod team by now. doh.gif

Lowyat.NET is NOT a trading site. There are trading sites around, such as Lelong or eBay which have measures in place to safeguard your transaction. Lowyat.NET is NOT one of them. The fundamental difference between us and them is that Lowyat.NET facilitates your trades by merely providing a platform, namely, a forum. We do not act as a party in any transaction. We have neither the manpower nor the intention to implement a comprehensive trading system.

too troublesome and confusing.

Why not like that?

Create a LYN status page in page u get a reference code after bank in to a LYN acc so called someone will update the system payment received.

2nd Check the status page when payment confirmed the other guy have to delivery the item

3rd When the guy received the product he have to update he received

4th then the payment the LYN acc will transfer money to the seller account.

So if any fraud in between lyn admin or member can investigate .

Basically, your suggestion is to use an Escrow service.

This is a good suggestion but there will be bound to have people that say they already sent the money but the system didn't update.. blame it on error... etc

good suggestion. but i dont think anyone here is paid for the work. and i dont think lyn will want the hassle of hiring lawyers to go through the legal issues and in the event of a dispute, have to bring in the lawyers again. i think its too much trouble for a 'service' d:
