QUOTE(hezda @ Mar 10 2008, 10:50 PM) I don't understand why people would think that if MS is adopting an internal blu-ray player 360, all games will come out on blu-ray disc. If they do that, they just f*** 12 millions customers who have already own the normal 360. Ha! It won't be the first nor the last time Microsoft f***s 12 million customers. They've already intentionally f***ed dunno how many million customers worldwide by launching a console that has a 33% chance to 3ROD.

whats the point in discussing this guys? a) microsoft wants to focus on delivering compressed hd content through the tubes b) it might make 360 more expensive to integrate blueray than to buy a ps3 hence giving the edge back to ps3 c) ms says they arent making any bluray capable model http://www.reuters.com/article/reutersEdge...224707720080313

Microsoft should have released an external Blu-Ray drive a month after the victory of Blu-Ray. It would be like "Yeah, it lost. But here goes for Xbox 360."
To me, Microsoft will be releasing two major products in the next 6 months :
- a 'Jasper' Xbox 360 (65nm CPU & GPU) - External Blu-Ray drive for Xbox 360

I am 100% sure about 'Jasper' but 50% sure about Blu-Ray external drive. Games these days no longer can fit into a single DVD... Its time Blu-Ray works for Xbox 360 too...

i think it will be ridiculous if they convert all the games to blu-ray. what will become of the current owners? don't make consoles become PCs as the reason why we buy consoles is for hassle-free gaming without having to spend money on hardware after the initial splurge

Thinking about this, everytime an external Blu-Ray drive for the Xbox 360 is sold, Sony gets small bits of the cash... imagine thousands of these units being sold... Sony would be thanking Microsoft...

Sony would be thanking Microsoft... Sony is dumb if he does that. Why? If Xbox 360 sell external blu-ray, and Sony gets a sum of money. In the long term overview, MS will dominate the market shares. If this so happens, Sony PS3 will be dead. ( For the movie part )

^So seeing Windows XP/Vista running on a Sony Vaio Laptop makes who stupid? Nobody. (Same goes to seeing Microsoft Office on Mac & Itunes/Quicktime on Windows) Sony & Microsoft are major competitor on the console front but when it comes down to business sometimes, they are 'partners'. Heck you can even download Sony BMG music video on US Xbox Live marketplace. (Although it's 50% Sony, 50% BMG)
Blu-ray for gaming on 360 will not happen, maybe next xbox but definitely not now. Period. Microsoft will be digging their own graves if they do. However if MS ever release a blu-ray drive for 360, internal or not...it will be just for movie playback.
IMO, this generation is really hard for a single console to dominate the market with a big margin like the ps2 era.

Seems that not everyone knows about this, but all Xbox 360 games DVDs are NOT manufactured by the publishers, they're manufactured in Microsoft factories (one of the forms of income Microsoft earns from the games), therefore if Microsoft were to adopt Blu-ray games, it would not only cost them money for the license, but also money to buy whole new equipments unlike the HD-DVD which only required replacements for a few components( One of the reasons why Microsoft backed Toshiba). Blu-ray being still in its early years will have extremely expensive copying equipments that i feel wont benefit the Xbox 360 sales.

As if buying games alone is not damaging enough to the wallet.
