>-Clicky-<QUOTE We'd already heard about a possible price cut to the Xbox 360, but it looks like that might not be all that Microsoft has in store, as TrustedReviews is now reporting that the 20GB hard drive in the standard Xbox 360 model is about to get the boot in favor of a more spacious 60GB one. That word apparently comes from a "rock solid source," who says that Microsoft wants to get it out the door by the end of its financial year, which comes at the end of June. TrustedReviews also goes into a bit of speculation, saying that Microsoft is "toying with the idea of introducing a new 360 SKU," and that a model with a built-in Blu-ray drive would seem to be "the most logical conclusion," although they say an external drive "makes sense too." While that possibility obviously remains up in the air, TrustedReviews is about as confident as can be with the 60GB Xbox 360 news, saying that you can take it to the bank. Haiyo, just when I'm about to buy one now Microsoft going to release new model? F*CK!

my 2 cents, throw that mentality of "kiasuism and naiveism" into the sea of imagining and believing all those rumours and endless speculations bout new/revamp/redesign/upgrade 360 or anything in life in fact...otherwise, u'll end up playing the waiting/loading game forever... GO GRAB YOUR NEXT-GEN CONSOLE NOW and ENJOY ALL THE GREAT GAMES!!! stop worrying too much and "IF" there's an upgrade...i'm sure MS will offer solution for the massive amount of current 360's owner to upgrade their console as well...I believe, they will not ditch their loyal customer juz like that...

I don't understand why people would think that if MS is adopting an internal blu-ray player 360, all games will come out on blu-ray disc. If they do that, they just f*** 12 millions customers who have already own the normal 360.

microsoft wouldnt be idiotic enough to integrate a blu-ray player at this particular moment. they might be thinking of future games to be played on the blu-ray format. they would lose too many customers by making the switch right now, and microsoft did not get to where they are now, by making silly marketing mistakes like that. im guessing that it would be for the next console.

They've already intentionally f***ed dunno how many million customers worldwide by launching a console that has a 33% chance to 3ROD.

whats the point in discussing this guys? a) microsoft wants to focus on delivering compressed hd content through the tubes b) it might make 360 more expensive to integrate blueray than to buy a ps3 hence giving the edge back to ps3 c) ms says they arent making any bluray capable model http://www.reuters.com/article/reutersEdge...224707720080313

Microsoft should have released an external Blu-Ray drive a month after the victory of Blu-Ray. It would be like "Yeah, it lost. But here goes for Xbox 360."
To me, Microsoft will be releasing two major products in the next 6 months :
- a 'Jasper' Xbox 360 (65nm CPU & GPU) - External Blu-Ray drive for Xbox 360

I am 100% sure about 'Jasper' but 50% sure about Blu-Ray external drive. Games these days no longer can fit into a single DVD... Its time Blu-Ray works for Xbox 360 too...

i think it will be ridiculous if they convert all the games to blu-ray. what will become of the current owners? don't make consoles become PCs as the reason why we buy consoles is for hassle-free gaming without having to spend money on hardware after the initial splurge

Sony would be thanking Microsoft...

If this so happens, Sony PS3 will be dead. ( For the movie part )

^So seeing Windows XP/Vista running on a Sony Vaio Laptop makes who stupid? Nobody. (Same goes to seeing Microsoft Office on Mac & Itunes/Quicktime on Windows) Sony & Microsoft are major competitor on the console front but when it comes down to business sometimes, they are 'partners'. Heck you can even download Sony BMG music video on US Xbox Live marketplace. (Although it's 50% Sony, 50% BMG)
Blu-ray for gaming on 360 will not happen, maybe next xbox but definitely not now. Period. Microsoft will be digging their own graves if they do. However if MS ever release a blu-ray drive for 360, internal or not...it will be just for movie playback.
IMO, this generation is really hard for a single console to dominate the market with a big margin like the ps2 era.

Seems that not everyone knows about this, but all Xbox 360 games DVDs are NOT manufactured by the publishers, they're manufactured in Microsoft factories (one of the forms of income Microsoft earns from the games), therefore if Microsoft were to adopt Blu-ray games, it would not only cost them money for the license, but also money to buy whole new equipments unlike the HD-DVD which only required replacements for a few components( One of the reasons why Microsoft backed Toshiba). Blu-ray being still in its early years will have extremely expensive copying equipments that i feel wont benefit the Xbox 360 sales.

As if buying games alone is not damaging enough to the wallet.
