I have been experimenting with Audio Players for the past few days in my quest to find the best player. I tried everything from Media Player Classic to foobar2000. VLC Player proved very good sound quality wise despite the low CPU usage. WinAmp as expected did amazingly well in most test but didn't impress me when it came to sound quality. It was only marginally better than VLC Player and when I put it up against my JetAudio Plus, JA blew it away. I even did a blind test to make sure I wasn't being biased because I am a big fan of JA. I tested it with a few songs from different genres and amazingly I could tell the difference 9/10 times.

Now I understand that LYN has many devoted WinAmp fans so I want to know if it is just me or is JetAudio better?

Note:

*Please note that I used JetAudio PLUS, the PAID version. Although I doubt there is a difference in SQ with the Basic FREE version.

*Also note that I tested both software without adding any plug ins. Just what came with the original installation, didnt even install new skins.

*I tested it with both headphones and 2.1 speakers. Testing on the speakers made the difference in bass quality VERY clear.

I haven't and i don't intend to. The whole point here is for me to find one a player that plays excelllently right out of the box. I know that WinAmp is almost unmatchable after you add up the numerous plug ins but how good is it at default?

Yes bro, I agree with you, JetAudio Plus is doing way better than winamp Plus it has good audio converter too.

heh, all player should sound same,
if u really wana compare SQ with different players, u should not use any DSP, eg equalizer.

but if u install winamp with the in_mpg123.dll, sound experience will totally different, u should try it sinc eit is free.

to me, winamp SQ is average, even WMPlayer seems to sound better...to me la..

havent used cowon jetaudio since very long ago...like 4-5yrs d! haha...it also has nice interface back then, but now dunno la

with Enhancer WinAmp still can not beat JA (basic ver.) in SQ...
i myself use both winamp(7-year) and Jet Audio(4-year)

Winamp (free) pros.
-Media library
-Nice new skin-BENTO
-Unicode title support

Cons.
-Sound Quality! ~yup, only slightly better than Windows Media player

Jet Audio (free basic) pros.
-(of course)SQ! x-bass, x-surround ...
- i frequently use the timer to turnOff my Pc
-Media Center is ok <--not fully explore this features (but still Winamp's Media Library rock!)

Cons.
-the design of Default skin is boring/outdate
-no Unicode title support

My vote goes to JetAudio sure has better SQ than Winamp . Jet audio was COWON product.

I have to agree with you. I use the timer function often too.

i personally feel that all media player are same in SQ in their default setting...SQ depends on good hardware, such as sound card and speaker... media player?just contribute 0.000000001%...
