Warner Announces V for Vendetta for Blu-ray (Updated)

Warner Bros. Warner Home Video has announced that they will release the highly anticipated Sci-Fi thriller 'V for Vendetta' for Blu-ray on May 20th. Video will be presented as 2.40:1 1080p VC-1 with 5.1 Dolby Digital audio track (no TrueHD track has been announced at this time, but is expected). While no extras have been announced at this time, you can expect that all the extras from the previous HD DVD release will fit easily on the BD-50.

This film was originally released on HD DVD, but was held back from Blu-ray release due to the lack of picture-in-picture support. Once support for PIP (BonusView) content was made mandatory, fans have been waiting eagerly for Warner to release those titles they initially held back. With this release of 'V for Vendetta', Warner is making good on their promise to bring all of their HD DVD exclusive titles to the Blu-ray format.

Extras on the HD DVD include the In Movie Experience (IME) PIP commentary, four featurettes ("Designing the Near Future", "Remember, Remember: The Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot", "England Prevails: V for Vendetta and the New Wave of Comics", and "Freedom! Forever!: Making of V for Vendetta"), the Saturday Night Live digital short, Cat Power montage, and theatrical trailers.

.:apisgogo lay-man blu-ray review:.

user posted image

Finished watching Men of Honor last weekend.

Story Itself : 4.5/5 stars
I like the story though. It reminds us that there will be a waste of energy and resources if we practice discrimination. And I must salute the courage and determination of Carl Bresher going all those situation.

Picture Quality : 4/5 stars
I didnt jump my seats when i see the quality of the picture though. The dark areas is not really impressive. U could still see artifacts. But when a scene is lighted up, the quality is good.

Audio Quality : 4/5 stars
Fox gives us DTS HD MA 5.1 on this BD release. Almost 70% of the movie is dialouge. But the dialouge is nice mix and clear. But u could feel the fun when the surrounds kicked in. Definitely jump my seats! smile.gif especially on the scene where Breasher trapped underwater and a russian submarine suddenly come in. Again DTS HD MA rattles my door! (even with core 1.5mbps track)

Managed to finished this movie last weekend also.

Story Itself : 3/5 stars
The beginning was good. I could see a fresh plot coming. But then when i see a freak-bald-kinda-freaky, i straight away feels 'not another zombies-eating-people movie again!' But at least the put a new twist here and there. But i like the part when the hero dies! smile.gif also, its cool to have a alternate ending on the BD extras.

Picture Quality : 5/5 stars
Definitely jumping my seats. The quality is breathtaking. nothing to say more.

Audio Quality : 5/5 stars
Warner offer us Dolby TrueHD 5.1 mix. and again im jumping my seats!. damn those zombies makes my heart trembles and shocked! the detail of the surround is magnificent. Surround is properly mix, e.g. the scene where Will Smith drove the car (mustang i think, red and white), u'll definitely feels u are in the scene, 100% realism. Another scene where Will Smith activate the bomb nearby his house, again my door rattles and my heart shakes.

Just got my PS3 to join the BD family last friday. All i can say is WOW!!! thumbup.gif Blu-Ray really rocks! Cannot tahan to get my hand on a bd disc to test it out so got Live Free or Die Hard from speedie and paid through my nose for it. sad.gif
Ordered a few others recommended by experts from the this thread from Amazon. Thanks for the tip guys notworthy.gif . Now i understand why you guys prefer the faster shipping although its more expansive - the damn close to month long wait is excruciating with the standard shipping method. sweat.gif

Looking forward to spamming this thread with the rest of you guys. laugh.gif
