Bros,

I'm no audio expert but this is my opinion:

For digital signals, 1 and 0 are transmitted unlike analog signal. Imagine a CAT5 network cable- how much would 100m costs? dirt cheap right? It transmits digital signal up to 100Mbps across up to 100meters- my question is have you ever seen and scenario where a network application crashes due to corrupted signal caused by the cables? VERY VERY rare. In information systems even 1 bit of error would crash a system but in AV a chunck of corrupted signal/data would probably cause a slight hitch in the audio/video output.

In short when it comes to digital cables I would only consider the quality of it's shielding (for optical there's no real need for it) and connectors, offcourse the build quality. I think those RM1k+ HDMI/optical and other digital cables are BS.

For analog signals, yeah the cables do make a difference but how much difference and where is the point of diminishing returns (e.g. would an RM1k/meter cable be much more better than an RM50/meter cable) is still being debated by audiophiles, techies and sceptics- I do not want to go there.

cheap - bad quality
expensive - good quality

haha.. it depends on the brands it self also. since u wanan make full use of the hdmi cable then u should spend a little bit more in order to get better quality which has gold plated n stuff and for sure u'll get better graphic while gaming. 1080p... wooshh! haha

but if u dowan to waste money to buy then u can actually buy a dvd player which support hdmi n use that cable! haha..

cheers!

Partially agree. Like I said, spend a little money on quality- mainly the overall build quality, shielding and connectors. It will not cost hundreds (or maybe thousands) for the manufacturers to produce cables with these quality. So the tech/specs (special alien technology manufacturing, metal from mars construction, swiss made precision gulung wayar procedure etc) mumbo jumbo they use to hike up the prices of these cables are pure BS.

Yeah I missed out a point which slickz highlighted- any modern form of digital communication will have some kind of error correction built in.

A RM30 HDMI cable has no difference what so ever than a RM900 Monster HDMI.

Is it so hard to understand?

Errr..... yes and maybe no......

YES because they both transmit digital signals so it's 1's and 0's. Maybe NO because the build quality and shielding might differ. Also the construction/material of the connectors. But probably if the RM30 cables have decent build quality and material used, the RM900 monsters would just be over engineered (you wont see any difference between the two).

Personally I'd spend a little bit more than RM30 for HDMI cables but definately not RM900!! But that's just me.
