Just got an ASUS 9600GT at 650/1800 stock speed. I noticed that there are only few people having ASUS 9600GT. Is it because it didn't OC that well?

No la I think if you look at the color chart (red = 9600GSO, green = 8800GT), after flashing 9600GSO to 8800GT it outperforms the real 8800GT by around 5%
