Hi guys! Got my Chaintech 9600GT about 3 weeks ago.

So far going good at 730/1825(i think...)/1000

Could push the core to 750 / shader 1880 stable, but the temps are
crazy over 70+

Was thinking of going for Accelero S1 rev2 and vmodding it to push
this baby way beyond. Anyone know how to pencil vmod this card?
I don't think I wanna do any soldering...

you will kill ur gc, so dont bother.

2 reasons
1) the particular SMD u need to shade is quite small.
2) OVP is set quite close to its default volts, so OVP circuit removal is needed, aka, desoldering/soldering

alternatively, wanna try a VID mod on it? brows.gif it should bypass the OVP, since the OVP is built to 5% of VID, but its under testing atm, and unless you wanna join in and be a guinea pig
that should be your max, unless you wanna go water, dice or ln2 tongue.gif

@bolded part,
bingo, you found your answer laugh.gif

Thing is, I have not found any info on how to pencil vmod for reference board.
Even if I could vmod it,... (solder/pencil) I would not know if OCP will kick in.
Dang... should have went with non-reference like Palit, I see some good oc
in other forums... as high as 900+ core clocks.

Hopefully I'm making sense and saying stuff above correct, as I'm new to
hard mod/ocing a vga card.

VID mod? Sure I'll try if you give me some info on it. thumbup.gif

Mine idles at 47~50 in an aircon room.

You could try setting the fan speed at 90%, thats barely audible.

You can just lock it to 90% for good. I find that to be barely audible
compared to 100% fan speed. Fan lifespan at permanent 90%
shouldn't be an issue.

Your temps are acceptable.

I once reached 82 during load. Little did i know that my device drivers
smack the fan speed down to 25% at that time.

New set a?

Bought everything new a couple of weeks ago.

Feels good in terms of budget and low cost.
Feelings of regret slowly comes in... in terms of the processor.

Here's a small idea for you Liuteva.

I'm currently doing so just for the fun of it.

Take off the black metal piece from your 9600GT.
Have 1 fan blowing air at ur GC. That should reduce the temps by 1~3.

Here's the reference PCB voltmod. Again, do it at your own risk

From browsing around, seems like a few have taken the dive and tried that out.
Over current protection hindered them. LOL, not only did they loose their warranty,
but now they have to solder it again to revert back to the original.

So far only non-reference boards get to go up to core 900mhz or even 1ghz(at madshrimps).
The rest(reference boards) got hit by a black screen when over volting.

how to define stable?
i oc my 9600gt to 753/1050/1883
how to distinguish between stable and no stable?
ati tool report no error on it anyway
*
What I do is let the ATI tool artifact scanner run for over an hour on my GC.
If there is no artifact then I do consider it stable. Another way is to look at 3dmark06 Firefly test.
Both no artifacts / no issues then you may declare it stable. Of course u should make sure ur
GC is not over heating too smile.gif

Mine now at core 750, shader 1850, memory 1050(2100) and I self declare it stable icon_rolleyes.gif
I think its very near to the limit, no time to run tests lately. Maybe I can squeeze another 5/10mhz
here there.

Wow, still got people clocking and buying this card. My 2 project with this card phailed.

First is want to vmod. So far no good news for reference card.

Second was to clock it down until no need 6-pin power. My logic phailed. I don't think it works that way.
