Hmmm this is listed in Singapore right?

I think the casino is supposed to be completed by 2010 if I'm not mistaken. Though I doubt it will show a big jump in profits until 1-2 years of operations. Because although it will be new and such, a lot of marketing needs to be done once it is completed. To pull in tourists from Asia and Europe who visits Singapore to shop, to actually go and gamble would take some time to pull off. I don't think Singapore market, although a gamblers market is enough to sustain operations there, since the entrance fee to one of the casinos in Singapore would costs them more than a bus ticket and accommodations to Genting Highlands to gamble. The entrance fee for Singaporeans is to curb the gambling habit by the Singapore government since a lot of people were worried of the social ills that might come with the opening of a casino.

Thus if they want to gamble, they need to go big and think they can win enough to cover the entrance fee. No small potatoes allowed.

For me I rather sit and watch until the casinos actually open, then I go and see myself how successful it is.

The Singapore casino : Costs already overrun the budgets at this stage.

With the inflation, do not know what will happen. Only time will tell.

It just came out with shocking result of RM 1 billion impairment loss .

I think you should wait for next Q result to see any real improvement. Do expect to see more shocking news in current situation worldwide.

Have been thinking about this stock since last December, even though I missed to golden chance when it rose over SGD$1.20 suddenly.

I'd like to ask opinion about this Stock. Is the singapore genting project still ongoing smoothly, as the stock has been hanging around 0.58SGD mark for quite some time, despite the rose of Singapore dollars since 3 months back. Now SGD is in it's height of 1SGD=RM2.44, but seems this stock is not affected by the rise in SGD.

I have very little investor's news regarding Genting Singapore.

I understand Genting, if succeed in building & running the Casino and Resorts, will definately be a great stock.

Things is I can't find much news regarding the development. Could it be like guys saying they have problem with the funds and budgets? If that's the case I'll wait till the stock drop further as I have faith that even if they run low on budget they will still be able to complete the project.

The problem with this stock is it does not give out any dividend. So if the price does not appreciate, then we have all to lose and nothing at all to gain.

A counter that doesn't pay any dividend doesn't mean that it is a bad counter. Profits that were not given back to investors would be retained in the company for future expansion that could gain a better return in the future, than if the profits were given back to investors.

if you wanna buy this share, then you better have some patient to wait for 10 or 20 years as return, short term investment is not encouraged
