Some questions about N95 8GB...target to change after Raya...
1.) How good is this N95 8GB? I have heard pros n cons about this phone...but not really sure which is true which is not...hope users able to share experience with me.

2.) Never use a Symbian phone b4. Kinda new in this. By going through this forum, we do need to upgrade firmware, software and install software if we want to. I aftraid all this will comes to trouble for me when i switch to symbian phone. Any opinion?

Alright, N96 is just like an updated version of N95 8GB, but actually, it not as good as you think. The surface is changed to glossy and looks more nice, but i tried that phone before and easy to 'drop' coz the glossy surface behind is slippery. Plus your fingerprints are all around the phone.

2nd, i think no people had mentioned here before, N96 doesn't have Acceleration Chip (3D Chip), means playing games will lag, there is a video to proof : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6zkJYF1w6A

3rd, N96 builds in with 16GB internal memory and i think it will be very lag when search through files even in my N95 8GB also little lag when accessing files.

4th, processing speed : N96 is using ARM 9 264Mhz while N95 8gb is using ARM 11 330Mhz plus a 3D Chip.

Conclusion, have a look at the price on N96 now, it's not worth it, spend few minutes to read review over the net, you will get a lot. The N96 comes with Dual LED flash and not Xenon, The DVB-H service i believe it's not available in Malaysia, so another useless feature.
About N95 8GB i currently using it and it's quite nice, just fullfill wat i wanted, but actually all symbian phones are almost the same just depends on the hardware and style!

At first i also worried about firmware, software and such, but once i got it only takes me about few days to master it, now i know how to hack the phone to install unsign application and flashing firmware is easy since they provided NSU and installing programs also easy through PC Suite

Hope this helps,.. just ask me anything about N95 8GB

Thanks for all the info about it. It's really useful for me as I need to understand more about pros n cons about this 2 gadgets... tongue.gif tongue.gif
Personally, I won't spend almost 3k for a phone (N96)...But that phone really looks nice n attract me...Large screen, nice design, everything in one (as comparison with N95 n N82 n N81).

I haven't really go through these 2 phones specs and make comparison on my own...but based on your reply, it seems like N95 8GB has more pros over N96 and yet its price is rather affordable, for me. icon_rolleyes.gif

Regarding to the processor of those gadgets, seems like N95 8GB has a better processor than the N96.

Erm, nowadays the fake N95 8GB is almost look same wif the real 1. The fake phone set has no certain features as wat we have in the real 1. They dun have Wifi, GPS, non-function of the 4 music button and etc... Better bought it from the phone shop that provided warranty by the authorized distributors.
Wow...china memang amazing la...i better try every single function outthere when i at the phone shop...make sure it's real...

Got the N95 8GB today... and it's awesome.

Mind if I ask something here? May b it sounds stupid and u guys might not understand what am i trying to ask.

About the sliding mechanism...Is it normal for the sliding mechanism to be little bit lose lose, whether it's open or closed? My gadget's sliding mechanism is not as tight as i expect. And the shop fella told me it's normal for all sliding phone. He said if it's too tight, u cant slide the phone wor...

Now even if i type sms or phone number, i can feeel it's moving...i mean minor movement...it's not that tight...i think is around 0.05mm of movement. Is that normal?

0.05mm is still acceptable la.... dun worry too much
*
That's what the sales person told me...it's normal if it's not as tight as it suppose to be... May be i am just over worry la... But i believe since we are using slide phone, somehow, one day, it will not as tight as its original condition...

Finally, I am done with my phone contacts...now trying to discover how awesome is this phone... May b will need advice and guides from all the experts in this thread about those software which is good n recommended... whistling.gif whistling.gif

NSU stands for Nokia Software Updater... U can download it from Nokia web site..
It is used to update ur phone firmware...
*
Currently my new gadget's firmware is V20...i believe all the new hp set comes with this firmware...but is it good to upgrade to the latest version, which is V30? I can do all this upgrades on my own by just using the USB cable?

Of course u can stay back to V20 since i dun see any big changes or improvement in V30...
After u have updated ur firmware, u muz reinstall all the applications and copy all the data back into the phones...
*
That's what i thinking bout...have back up everything then have to put it back to the phone...
Anyway, thanks for all the info and feedback. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

Yes, nothing much different between V20 and V30 firmware....

Also for V30 firmware lock user to access some files folder....Prevent hacking
*
All right. Then i would just stick wit the current V20 firmware...
Any nice application to recommend to newbie like me? I've been seeing you guys talking bout Garmin TX, Mapking and etc...I believe all those are related to GPS thingy, right?

Yes, should put try to put in GPS software example : Garmin XT...
Nice software..
*
Now within N95 8GB itself has free 3 months of GPS trial..afte that, we need to pay for it in order to have nagivation. Then how bout this Garmin XT software? Do we still have to pay for it? Pay for the maps?

Garmin is much better than Nokia Maps....More details of POI and road if using MalsingMaps....Malsing is FOC but need to contribute to get the maps...

Garmin is not free....If know how to **** then it is free...
*
Basically doesn't need GPS navigation yet...most probably just try on the 3 months free trial by N95 8GB itself..
Any other nice software to intro? Themes? mp3 player?
