Back then before Archimonde's nerf like ages ago - before Sept'07, a single mistake or bad luck causes a wipe as a single soul charge he releases WILL kill someone and create a chain effect. Thus the pvp trinket helped a bunch.

However post nerf, he has been pretty much chicken feet. You can have people dieing left right centre and still kill him with less than 20 raid members. Archimonde is pretty much a boss where you understand that 'staying alive is more important than doing 0 dps' if you were a dpser, and that would create less strain for the healer who will be focused on healing the mt and topping up hps of people getting grips and not decursed fast enough. Oh, did I also mention people who dont know to time their air burst? That was the highest reason which causes a wipe, somewhere close to members who do not know how to move away from doomfires. So, as you can see, pvp trinket might help but not even necessary nowadays.
