It's all the tanks fault! Hee hee...just kidding.

When it comes to raiding, don't think that you gear up only through raids. Because if you're getting into a progressive raiding guild, they will not take you.

Why?

  • It does not how initiative in getting ready for the raid if you do not have gears from Badge Rewards, Heroics or PVP. The argument that PVP gear doesn't have enough hit rating doesn't mean that you can't use 1-2 pieces of PVP gear, which are some of the best in-game. With badge and heroic rewards, those are within your reach so gear up with those gear pronto. There's really no excuses and if you have to pug, pug it. Not every heroic pug is a bad pug.

  • The other thing about having good gear from Badges, Heroics and PVP is that it shows that you know how to keep yourself occupied outside of raid times. The guild isn't there to always "hold your hand" when it comes to having to help you 24/7.

  • Another good things about pug is that you may get lucky by pugging with the potential guild you're planning to apply. But provided you know how to play well. If you don't know how to play well, you will not get an edge over the rest of the competition.

  • Show good knowledge about your character in your application. Short answers like "I press the key spells/attack moves that are for rogues" doesn't show that your abilities will shine.

  • Take whatever Jas says with a pinch of salt. I swear his the most negative person on this forum because of his experience. That is his experience, not the rest of us.

i seriously wouldnt consider pvp gear at all if i have the pve option. i currently only wear my s3 helm as the ONLY pvp gear because i got no alternatives (i could actually buy the heroic helm, but im saving for t5-6 level sunwell version instead biggrin.gif)

wasted resil/stam points are much better spent on pve stats. and hell, you also said urself, gearing up is ez, heroics, badges, ez mode pug kara/ZA. really not a lot of reason/excuses to wear pvp in pve, or the lack of gear having greens etc(or blues for that matter, though some blues does have its goods, especially trinket slots, such as the abacus for rogues).

=edit=
oops, i missed out my s3 weapons for my pve set tongue.gif
but meh i dont have t6 level weapons and heroics/badges offers shit weapon upgrade lulz

Well said, but my guild actually banned pugs.
You trying pugging, u're out of the guild.

and i agree with Jas, you can NEVER get invites with or without gears.
Last time i recall, u don't have a warrior, myremi.

no reason to not be geared. BC is ezmode epics.

and honestly speaking, unless your guild can man 5mans for EVERYONE (for every class too), or premade BG all the time, i dont see the possibly of no pugs. maybe your guild is really awesome at have the perfect 5x5 25man classes (lol 5 tanks in 25man raid) but seriously, since i dont know your progression, i will go as far as saying your guild is retarded.

Candlejack/Jas : I've a Level 30 warrior. smile.gif Pet project put aside to get epic flight form for my Lvl 70 feral druid. It started out to see how the different warrior builds would be like at lvl 70 as well as getting to know how to handle a warrior.

The openings for recruiting a DPS warrior is competitive. But once you're known on the pug circuit that you're good at dishing out the neccesary DPS, it's easier to get into a raiding guild. Unfortunately, the warrior class is very gear based so you have to do a lot of gearing up.

But DPS warriors bring added raid buffs to the melee group. Unfortunately, in 25-mans, there's probably only one group for melee only i.e. 4-5 ppl max. DPS warriors in the tanking group also helps the Prot Warrior to manage his rage better by taking over some of the debuff/buff duties.

If your guild bans pugging, it sounds like there is an issue with lack of players online to even form guild runs. The best way to attract good players is to do pugs, see how they perform and if they're good, throw them an invite into the guild. Seems like a waste opportunity to not pug heroics now and again. You never know when you'll see a better player out there with different ways of doing things or different strategies. Plus to brush up on your skills.

froz3nnoob : Don't get too discouraged. It's good to try out different classes. You can understand their roles better in party / raid mode. Opportunities are not easy to come back but that doesn't mean that one should get dissapointed when you hit the first few stumbling blocks.

Quaz : some of the pvp stuff could be easier to reach due to the RNG in instances. Also some of the weapons are best in-game outside of Hyjal/BT. Some pieces are good for PVE, like the Medallion of Alliance for Winterchill. smile.gif And yes, I'm edging u on. tongue.gif

armor wise theres always alternatives. weapon wise just f***en kill kael/vashj or friggin do BT/HJ, much better than the pvp counterparts. trinket wise, like seriously, if a 2min cooldown cc breaking trinket can make or break an encounter for a guild, imo its the guild's problem. sure, it helps, but i honestly dont believe a 2min cc breaking trinket can make or break this encounter
http://www.wowwiki.com/Rage_Winterchill_(tactics)
i mean, hell, it didnt say OMG YOU MUST WEAR PVP TRINKET.
say max frostbolt is 5k dmg, + full dot. its 15k dmg. trick is to have 10k hp and healers heal 5k and you got 2 sec window to heal it too aka flash of light/flash heals/swiftmend/lesser heal wave.

go l2pve or something. gosh.

Actually, the pvp trinket does make or break the archimonde encounter since we can't really have a tremor totem in every group for fears+doomfires.

oh noes 5 shamans notsoez.

seriously, who doesnt love bloodlust. put all the 5 shamans together for PERMA bloodlust = mega win sauce imo!

no... what you want is to swap 5 totem twisting enhancement shamans for perma bloodlust/heroism in teh melee group=supermegawinsauce

Actually.. correction on pvp trinket being essential for teh fight.. seems prevalent strategy here is to use the stump -.-

glad you still realize that abusing game mecha- i mean err, creative use of in game terrain, is better than a shitty 2 min cooldown cc break pvp trinket.

Back then before Archimonde's nerf like ages ago - before Sept'07, a single mistake or bad luck causes a wipe as a single soul charge he releases WILL kill someone and create a chain effect. Thus the pvp trinket helped a bunch.

However post nerf, he has been pretty much chicken feet. You can have people dieing left right centre and still kill him with less than 20 raid members. Archimonde is pretty much a boss where you understand that 'staying alive is more important than doing 0 dps' if you were a dpser, and that would create less strain for the healer who will be focused on healing the mt and topping up hps of people getting grips and not decursed fast enough. Oh, did I also mention people who dont know to time their air burst? That was the highest reason which causes a wipe, somewhere close to members who do not know how to move away from doomfires. So, as you can see, pvp trinket might help but not even necessary nowadays.
