Yay... fellow crichton fans rclxm9.gif

I actually find the movie version of Timeline more enjoyable. It makes the romance between Andre and Claire more believable as they have more interaction and sparks between them. Of course, the novel has more explanations about the multiverse concept which just cannot be translated onto the big screen.

Speaking of which, does anyone notice that Crichton's works always have crappy, rushed endings? It's like the whole story was built up to a climax and suddenly it just ends abruptly. The novel version of Jurassic Park had such as lousy ending (WTF raptor nest and migration?), and so did Prey which metamorphosed from bio-robotic scifi into a B-grade Hollywood kill'em all finale. Andromeda's Strain's ending was very unexpected too and I feel that the excuse that the microbe has mutated into a non-virulent form seems really sleazy for all the suspense it had been building up.

Isaac Asimov... really hard to get his books.

Try his short stories if you can find them, "The Billard Ball" is absolutely stunning, while I love "The Dead Past" and "Nightfall" a lot too.
