why do you have to buy a mac to delete the OS?

by the way, It's impossible I think because the bootcamp is build within OSX.

does all Mac come with bootcamp when sold???....bootcamp seems to work like partition....but can Mac OS be deleted after installing Windows OS or vice versa?????

don't think so.

Bootcamp is more than just partition tool. Why? Intel mac machines uses EFI (successor of BIOS, wiki it if u dono) and winxp/vista 32bit don't support EFI but only support BIOS. So bootcamp kinda "emulate" BIOS so that winxp/vista can be install in Intel mac machines. Btw, vista 64bit support EFI, so you can install vista 64bit without bootcamp. You can just make a partition in diskutility. (You can google it for more details) wink.gif

Hi all. I've got a few questions I would like to ask all the Mac experts here. I am currently using a Sony laptop for my work. 17" / 3 year old unit. Well, not mine but the company's. Will be upgrading and thinking of getting a MacBook Pro. Here are my questions and appreciate any advice

Background: My work heavily uses Photoshop and Illustrator

1. If I run windows natively, will performance suffer compared to running Mac OS and having Mac versions of Photoshop and Illutrator? If possible, don't want company to spend more money on softwares.

2. If running windows natively, will the new Intel Core 2 Duo 2.6 GHz MBP with 4Gb RAM run CRYSIS smoothly?

Thanks in advance.

crysis again? Smoothly? It depends, smoothly in med graphic i would say. Even 8800GT has a pretty tough handling crysis in ultra graphic mode (aka DX10 mode)

Btw, if you plan to run windows in mbp, what's the point? Rather than just get a normal dell laptop to save more $$. Adobe CS3 running fine in both platforms. wink.gif My advice, if you design 2D artworks (without have to rendering 3D), macbook is more than enough for your work, exclude playing 'crysis' la laugh.gif

PS: i running AI, PS and DRW without any problem with my macbook and smoothly. I just upgrade to 3GB ram. wink.gif

congratulations! have fund

Added on March 11, 2008, 12:28 pmother reasons:

1. if you are a web developer. You need to have the IE, Firefox and safari installed to check your web design regularly. Switching from browser to browser is a must. developer will understand my view. Boot cam is a no no in this case.

2. for those who need to visit some complicated sites. e.g Banking site for payments, and financial info. Most of these sites are developed for IE. therefore you need a Windows and OS X running at the same time.

3. for gamers, if you do not need to do multi tasking, Bootcamp will do the job perfectly fine.
