Why is it so difficult to surf over to the Apple website read up one what the device does? Someone has even linked the necessary page for those of you adverse to clicking your mouse button.
I was hoping for a discussion on the usability of the device. But no... ... just another waste of space on LYN. |

Has Time Capsule even reached our shores? I'm in serious consideration of getting one; except I received this in email from a close friend last night.

I wouldn't say it's big... It's quite compact for what it does... The TC includes a full sized 3.5" hard disk and power supply unit built into the unit, on top of the wireless router components..![]() Y is it so BIG ?! If you think the TC is big, go get yourself a wireless-n router with ugly antennas and a bulky 1TB external network attached storage. Use 2 power sockets, and 2 external power bricks to power them up. Don't complain if it's not compatible with Time Machine & Back to My Mac. Don't complain if the warranty for the router & NAS is only 1 year, and not extended if you get ACPP for your mac. Sorry if I sound mean, I'm just tired of posts that don't contribute and people who are too lazy to Google or call up the resellers to find out if something is available. edited to add this: p/s: I'm proud to have less than 300 posts, rather than thousands which are mostly a waste of lowyat.net server space and internet bandwidth. Those stars in a row are just crap. This post has been edited by lailaikatong: Mar 5 2008, 10:24 AM |

@lil twist,
I've got to start clearing the desk to see if i can make space for it - am sure it's not meant to stand side ways *grins* And well, I guess for all its functionality it's oKlah... but still, i don't think it's small ! |

QUOTE(tinkerbel @ Mar 5 2008, 10:52 AM) it seems like you want to carry the time capsule around? i don't think it's meant as a portable ext. hdd device. it suppose to stay at one place, thus the justification for it's size, which i thought is acceptable & can even be considered small for what it does.and apparently, you can change the hdd inside it yourself. so if god forbid, the hdd dies or you need to upgrade to a bigger drive, DIY is possible. good to know... p/s: anyone know when it's coming in yet? i'm getting a little bit impatient & sick of waiting.. @lokgotz,
AhHhHh so it's YOUR picture *grins* - if I'd known I would have given credits to you; except well, it was found by a friend *grins* And no.. I don't need the high res photo; thanks anyways Yup - ur right, I too don't think it's expensive considering it's also an Airport Extreme. Am still considering... though haven't put much thought into it for now [need to clear table space too! *Ugh*] @suiryuu, Yes it's good to have it with Leopard so everything syncs especially with Time Capsule. I haven't quite gotten my hands on Leopard yet but will probably get it if i get the TC. |

No you don't sound mean, you ARE mean. If you don't feel like answering in a thread that don't even belong to you in the first place, then DON'T.If you think the TC is big, go get yourself a wireless-n router with ugly antennas and a bulky 1TB external network attached storage. Those stars in a row are just crap. Don't judge people if you do not know what others had done before posting. You have the right to voice your opinion, but don't judge others for what they think is big or small just because it differs from your opinion. Tink's question was strictly an opinion based query. If you are so proud of having less than 300 post that you even need to post it to make your point, then STOP posting, though it won't reduce, but at least it stops there. Heck don't even bother browsing the forum if you are so tired of others because of the way you judge them. Who are you to judge what is a waste of server space and what's not? Have you gone through each and every post of everyone to determine whether they are crap? I too think the TC is big, not only because of the size, but also because of the design. It will occupy quite a lot deskspace because of that and I wouldn't want to stack anything on top of it. This post has been edited by civic98: Mar 5 2008, 02:43 PM |

QUOTE(civic98 @ Mar 5 2008, 02:38 PM) Rest of post snipped. Do not put it on desk, wooden or lacquered. There are reports on Macrumors that users finding out that the TC's internal drives grew hot, hot enough to warp the surface they put the TC on. I need to find a sheet of glass to put mine on later.I too think the TC is big, not only because of the size, but also because of the design. It will occupy quite a lot deskspace because of that and I wouldn't want to stack anything on top of it. |

So TC eat up socket space? this is interesting.....
I will definitely buy it if i can store my multimedia files in the TC so my HDD on Mac wont become fat but i heard TC can only Back-Up |
