is this the most expensive ipod dock around? i just got my hands on 1 of this. .no wifi, no hdd, no fancy remote. just a xlr balance output andof course with normal single ended output as well. a composite video and a s-video output. u can go thru your playlist via your big screen. act as a pre amp as well. just connect your dock to your existing power amp, and you are ready to go.

wow it look so cool.. but USD 1500 is very exp.. i rmbr 1 of our forumer get a Boss home speaker which cost around rm17k... so i guess still got ppl afford it..

It's not the price.. it's the performance for audiophiles.

The way you say is like, if I'm a genius i'll rather buy cheaper cars like proton rather than luxury cars like BMW and Mercedes. It's all about people enthusiast about audio system.

IMO, the Krell KiD is not quite a Mercedes... but a crazily overpriced "Honda City or Toyota Vios". Sure, it ain't a Proton.. but c'mon ... USD1500 for an iPod DOCK (only!) ?

You're better off getting that Wadia iTransport and coupling it with a DAC of your choice.

Krell's gone off their rockers on this one.

generally i see the docking system looks like Hi-Fi Amp ~ but this customize with Apple dock for the price of USD1500 ...worth it?

thats the catch ... it STILL uses the iPod's ANALOG output via the dock connector. It just sends the signal out via high quality XLR-balanced circuitry or RCA connections only.

But as "a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link" ... one must question how good is the audio quality when the analog signal has to pass thru the DOCK connector interface , which is far from being optimised for analog audio signals.

Then again ... I've yet to hear that Krell KID in action .... but i won't bet on it ...
