Would anyone of you be so kind to post the fishing rigs you use in short shallow water, bottom fishing and semi deep (less than 100m) , I have just started fishing and the online tutorial diagrams with knots, well lets just say my catch has been ......nothing....is it my presentation or something else. Thanks!
*
hi bro,
How you setup your bottom fishing rig ?

Assuming you own a multiplier ... for bottom fishing (less then 100m), you will need a 8" T-line spreader, two "lam" plus mono leader approx around 11-12 feet and optional 1ft long wire line for hook. If you were targeting something like snapper you can go without wire line but wire line is mandatory when you came across a school of barracudas. whistling.gif

As for bait presentation .. what type of bait u were using ? dead or live ? squid ? fish fillet ?
Well i'll roughly cover abit on squid la, best size of live squid to use as bait were about 4"~5" long. You can opt for a single hook or double hook solution for better hookup rate. As for me i opt for single hook method.

Rigging a squid is easy using a single hook, just take a 4/0 hook and run it through the tail 3 times. This presentation method make the squid look much more natural when it reach the seabed and higher chance to get a bite from grouper or snapper. As for double hook.. use a smaller hook such as 3/0 or 2/0 and pierce it through the tail twice and use a bigger hook such as 4/0, 5/0, go through it's head or body, well this method does increase the hookup rate but not that inviting when compared with the single hook method.

Another factor which need to be considered which is current.. if it's dead .. you cant just sink your bait to the bottom. You are required to crank your reel up at least 4~7 turn. eg a 6.2:1 reel would reel in approx 42" of line per crank. If the current is fast just sink your bait to bottom and wait. Tips, feeding frenzy usually occur when tide change, you need to be fast as it just gonna last for about 30min or so. That the golden hour to nail as much fish as you could.

try out squid! nothing beat sotong!! laugh.gif drool.gif drool.gif

Finally, fishing is all about luck n patience ! ehhehe try again bro!

Wet drag means i have to put drag fluid? Actually all drags are sold dry. They're only known as drags. There's no such thing as wet based drags. You don't go to any tackle shop & ask "I want to buy wet based drags." Most probably they'll answer you "Don't have." All you need to do is grab hold of a correct drag and apply a little layer of grease onto the drags during installation for the Shimanos.

*
just wanna share bout drag grease .. don't try to use ur tractor/car/rempit machine grease on your drag especially those carbon/dartanium drag from shimano,. Failure to do so.. you would screw up your drag and end up with a sticky and inconsistent drag performance. So use only shimano drag grease. And never run dartanium drag dry, they are not dry type of drags because the drag washer will get thin and you'll lose top end drag.. imagine when you jam drag and yet the line keep on kena de-spool with little effort. sweat.gif

As for carbonfiber /carbontex use cal's drag grease tongue.gif
