Bro Q,
Its meant to pull back the lure when it got snagged ler.. smile.gif

Imagine your lure got stuck and you tried to pull it back and your snap bukak.....

you get back the snap but not the lure.... smile.gif

not about the fish

bro Ice,

Practically right...

For wild fishing esp with loads of snags, we usually use
1. 30lb and above
2. 50~60lb leader

Still the best chance to retrieve back your lure from the snag...

Comparo to normal snap where it will open easily, with stronger snap you have higher chance of getting back your lure

Bro Q,
Most of the time the standard hooks are using besi type, thus opened up easily

We mostly use carbon and 3x stronger hooks...in such hook will hardly opened up and most of the time the line burst before the hook will open

Bro Q,
You are right....but do you believe that the snap is 100lb snap as stated on the labels....? smile.gif

If it's really 100lb, i believe you have to excrete more than 100lb in order to open the snap to fit your lure in.. smile.gif

In short higher poundage snaps have higher percentage of getting back the lure.... dont you agree? smile.gif

FOR EVERYONE
In luring, sometimes the snap too big will hamper the lure's action...

Imagine, if you are using a 2inch lure and the snap is 1 inch.....be it walk the dog or divers, will definitely out of the original suggested action....

Also, in luring, try to have a rounded end so that the lure can swing freely. Try not to use the haruan snap for lures...due to the pointy end, the lure is not able to swing freely.

waaa ... like this must use jigging hooks liau lorr .. hahahaahaa
sure no open one .. if open then i go home terus .. tongue.gif

Added on May 7, 2008, 11:02 am

what i understand is 100lbs means 100lb required to break apart the snap hold from opposite sides of the snap .. ie line and opposite end (hook or whatever)
to open snap using fingers of coz no need 100lb laa ..

why not use split rings instead ??? surely much stronger and no opening chance due to faults generic to snaps .. but of coz $$$ laa .. hahahaa
*
If using split ring the whole rig will be come heavy and will hamper the action liao... smile.gif

Imagine
1. Mainline -> Leader -> Swivel -> Split ring -> lure

Compare to
2. Mainline -> Leader -> Snap(w/o swivel) -> lure

Sometimes due to the size and shape of the swivel, your lure action runs tremendously. That's why Laurie Rapala tie direct to the lure...

The part that i dont like the reel is about the handle...Bro Ice is right, it rubs against your thumb and will cause blister when jigging...

Bro Q,
That reel is not that big ler...even Bro Chun's Applause is filling in near 200m only ler...also size 4000

Shimano size 4000 is also filling up similar to Ryobi what...

Best is to get Daiwa....my Cy4000 fills in 300m of 40lb TUF line....damn syiok
