QUOTE(babybb @ Apr 23 2012, 09:56 AM) You can try "Be My Guest" Guest House (Beside BP Grand Suite Hotel).. 520bath per night & the hotel came with free wifi. Just 10 minutes to lee garden & 5 minutes to kan eng restaurant. The room i would give 9/10 for its cleaness. I think it's very worth it. Hi,Just back from hatyai yday for my 3D2N trips. Once back edi sick =( Do we need to book earlier or can we on the spot book the room at Be My Guest House? will it be a price difference? |

QUOTE(ghoss @ May 15 2012, 09:58 AM) 3-5pm (Thai Time) not selling Hi,http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=49312047 Follow my guide and you will be ok . Hotel , I recommend Sakol , 1 room around 60/night No need tour van , just take tut tut around Rm2 for nearby , if go to the outskirt some might charge 3-4. I am still considering between pink lady, sakol or be my guest . pink lady and sakol same price 600 baht, while be my guest is cheaper at 450 baht. well, which is the nearest to lee garden area and with lots happening? i am looking for those with nearest to city center. |

QUOTE(ghoss @ Jun 14 2013, 11:54 AM) QUOTE Day 1: 8.30AM : Reach 1 of the big parking lot and duty free shop at Changlun. Some people park their car here and take a cab to Thai. Many bus will stop here for their passenger to pee too. You can buy cheap liquor here (it's cheaper than the duty free complex) BUT after you buy, you cannot direct take it. They will sent it to the Malaysia border, and once you reach the Malaysia border, then only you take from them. I also had the worst ever Jawa mee here. Conclusion? DON'T EVER eat here. You can buy some liquor here to bring over to Thailand since it's cheaper than there, but prepare to wait for awhile (around 10minutes for me) if what you buy did not reach earlier at the Malaysia border than you. 9.10AM : Pass by Malaysia border. Park my car at the duty free complex. Remember not to leave the parking ticket at your car. The traffic from the Malaysia border to the Duty Free complex is usually crawling speed before 11AM as many lorry and bus are entering during this time. 11.15AM : YES, I freaking wait 2 hours for me to clear the customs. Standing there for 1 hour and 45minutes! Freaking crazy. If you are lucky and willing to pay, some runner will approach you and you pay them like RM5 to cut queue =.=' . It will be easier if you use border pass as you are able to clear faster. However, too bad so sad, no runner's approach me. =.=' . [Don't forget the RM1 tip inside your passport when you pass by the Thai Custom] 11.20AM : Have a nice lunch at Ped's Restaurant. The food here is awesome. It's on the 3rd lorong on your right if not mistaken. 12.00PM : Unwilling to wait to share a van to Hatyai, we take a cab instead. A toyota Yaris, cost us 600bath and take 1hour + to reach our hotel in Hatyai. 1.10PM : Check in is very slow for us even though we already pay earlier. Take like 20minutes. I am still wondering about the route to Hatyai after park our car Thai border, at Zon Duty Free Complex thr which cost less than RM15 per day. After this, are we going to take vans straight to Hatyai and check in at sakol hotel? how much does this cost and how long journey from there to hatyai? Appreciate your advice.=) |

QUOTE(ghoss @ Jun 14 2013, 12:07 PM) If you're driving car might as well drive to hatyai if you're going to hatyai. I learnt that we need car insurance at RM18 (for a week) which we can fill in at padang besar there right?Journey is around 1hour Van is below RM20 per person 1 way (cannot remember how much) Need to wait till van full. Don't think you can load all your shopping in Hmm...is van the only way to reach Hatyai from border? if it is about RM20, it is not worthy to drive till the border and not drive in then. coz minivans from penang to hatyai costs RM30..which IMO more worthy, isn't it? will the road in hatyai easy to drive around? i am thinking since this is my first time there with friends, will driving a car around there better or minivans? |

QUOTE(ghoss @ Jun 14 2013, 01:24 PM) Does anyone in the group went there before ? If not mistaken the price for minivan is around rm13 , not really sure. hmm...how long journey if take van from penang to hatyai straight? i think they need to fill their van full then only jalan right? If you're from penang , I suggest you go by van from Penang , really hassle free After you reach there can just use their tuk tuk which costs 20-30baht per person per trip I see. is there any vans available in penang mainland? wish to go from butterworth to hatyai. |

QUOTE(ghoss @ Jun 14 2013, 01:45 PM) Not sure about that My concern is that will there are many buses/ vans to Hatyai from Padang besar?maybe can check at komtar if there is any van that stop in BW. Usually 3-4 hours can reach hatyai already. Around 1.5 hours to border / half hour for crossing customs . 1 hour from border to hatyai from butterworth drive to padang besar and it only takes 1.5 hours, right? |

QUOTE(ghoss @ Jun 16 2013, 03:08 PM) Really not sure about the budget hotels, depending on the time when you're going (holiday or festival time) I will be going next saturday! Not too sure if it is peak season as school holiday are just over.If can best to book advance as some of the budget hotel are hard to comunicate well, just hope that I am able to call them up then, if not, the only hotel which I can book online is Tune. But, it will be going to far away from city center, isn't it? |
