Hey guys, looking to go in hatyai this week with my family. Im from kedah and my passport is already expired. How do i make a border pass? Do i jst bring a passport size image and my ic to the immigration and its done within a day? And must i make an entire border pass for my family or just under one name? And is there any criteria if i were to take in my car as well?

Here you go: http://www.imi.gov.my/index.php/en/main-se...laysia-thailand

For car, u need to bring ownership cert and letter of consent (if you're not the owner of the car)

For everyone's information, I crossed the border yesterday without too much trouble. What you have to do is to go to the immigration office, tell them you lost your departure card and they will ask for RM10 from you (not sure it's a fee or a bribe), they will get a new card, check the computer for your old card's serial number and correct the new card with the old number and you just cross as usual.

The entire process didn't take more than few minutes.

Just wonder how do I get off back from Hatyai back to Bukit Kayu Hitam?

Is there a mini van or scheduled bus or taxi i can take a ride home back to Danok and walk to Bukit Kayu Hitam or how?

How much overnight parking in The Zon? Or any safer place to park near the borders?

Planned to go in for 2d1n. I know how to get in, just coming back bit uncertain as I'm unable to find any information on tat only.

Just back from my trip... And decided to take an adventure and go discover myself...

Drive up to The Zon, parked one night for RM16. And then walk towards the Thai Immigration, upon reaching Immigration, go and take the arrival card. Fill up and q for the stamping and check in...

Remember to put in RM1 or RM2 or 20 baht ... Sip into passport and cross without any disturbance... I spot some people refuse to pay end up check here n there, probably took them 20-30mins in order to get in. Learnt this "tipping" from some blogger. The more tip u pay, the faster u r to get pass... doh.gif sweat.gif

Walk toward 7-11, there's a van going down Hatyai for 56baht only. One way, direct till your hotel doorstep in Hatyai. 1 hour journey.

On the coming back, couldnt find any van/bus, decided to pay 1000 baht (ouch!) for a taxi back to Sadao, border there. The Q was long. Some even pay RM50 or RM30 to cut Q and check out first. I even managed to spot the officers asking for tips, if not do slow slow... yawn.gif again have to sip in RM1 or RM2 or 20bt, make sure u all go there prepare small change. a Malaysian in front of me pay RM20 note coz he dont have small change and coin is not accepted... doh.gif

Not encourage this kind of activities... But u have no choice!

In The Zon free duty, stuff not so cheap as well in comparing to International Airport in Malaysia. Example, Johnny Walker (KLIA2) RM108, (The Zon) RM107. Dunhill Red (KLIA) RM82, (The Zon) RM88. U need to stay at least 2-3 nights in Thai only entitle u to but liquor and cigars. But if u dare and take the risk, u can buy... Coz when i go out, custom no check ... sweat.gif

Plus buying in KLIA2 with CIMB card or other card got additional discount ^^

Sakit nya.. Sorry this might be a bit late for you as you already backhome. The van from Hatyai back to Sadao are located at pasar(sound like that its a 2-3 story wet and dry market, about 5 minutes moto ride fom lee garden)

You need a 3 night stay to enable to bring back dutyfree of 1 liter liquor, 200 stick cigi. If less then 3 nights still can buy but if custom spotted you then you need to pay the duty only lah.

Once me and a friend bought 1 carton each of cigi to thailand after 3 nights stay, we still have a few packet of 20s. Stop by custom ask us "mana kotak besar" keep asking us the same question again n again. We knows he want a pack or 2. we just play dumb after 5-10 minutes he lets us off.

Edited addon:

By right if you have item need to pay duty you need to declare. If you don't I am not sure got fine of not if you get spotted.

For your information :-

Van Service (Hatyai to Dannok)
- you can go straight to Khon Song (bus station) (located nearby Asean Night market and Central Festival Mall)
- the charges is 56 baht
- you can get tuktuk or motorbike service to reach the bus station
- beside that you can also get bus/van tickets to phuket, koh samui, betong, yala, bangkok or other places at there.

Going to Krabi and Hat Yai soon and hope anyone with experience can help

1. To get from Ao Nang to Krabi Town, where can we wait/get a transport to Krabi Town? Is there a bus station where we can go to? Or can we take the Songthew and is there a specific place where we can hail a songthew to Krabi town?

2. Where exactly do they drop us at Krabi Town (is there a station etc) or do we have to specify the place where we want to be in Krabi Town?

3. Where can we get bus to Hat Yai in Krabi? Where can we wait for a bus to Hat Yai in Krabi?

4. From Hat Yai, how can we get to Penang?

Thanks!
