Well, as Steve Jobs said in the Macworld 1997, "I certainly believe in the freedom of choice", you can choose to unlock your iPhone to use with other telcos beside AT&T in USA. But by default, you should be tied to AT&T. But then again, you have the freedom not to :-p

Yeah...I got mine new (sealed) 16GB for 2150. Unless you wanna pay 2.4k for an 8GB model, nobody is stopping you :-p

Yes saw that....there's already a thread on that. But some parties are saying that its a paint job and Mr Walt now said that he was kidding when he announced the 3G iPhone is coming in 60 days. But anyhow, I'm sure that those who have the phones now wont regret it since it's already a good phone and that most of us dont care bout 3G anyway. It's darn expensive over here in Malaysia

I'm using 1.1.3 too. Didnt bother to upgrade since I have to sync/install everything again or Im just being lazy and I'm those kind of ppl who is always 1 version behind everyone else. :-p Well, besides the out-of-order SMS display, I could still live with 1.1.3. But I've never tried custom ringtones though, maybe you could try installing the Ringtone app. But that's just my personal opinion. I think frozzbyte could provide more pointers whether it's good to upgrade to 1.1.4 since he is the sifu here.


iPhone is my first Apple gadget too. :-) Hopefully the transition to full Apple products will materialize for me in due time (and also with some moolah :-p)

Apple has not released any apps yet. You have to wait till the SDK official release in June. At the moment, you could download 3rd party apps using installer. I think there is already a thread on the must-have apps on the iPhone (though it depends on individuals. But it will give you some ideas of what interests you. )

Install BossPrefs and disable EDGE from there. You dont need to cancel your subscription. You'll need it in case of emergency. You'll never know. At the moment, almost all of us are using BossPrefs.

Do a sync before you restore. iTunes saved all the settings for me, eg contacts, sms, webclips....at least it works for me...

But i have backups also, using the app TimeCapsule

Maybe he turned the SSH on. If that is so, turn it off using BossPrefs.

Yeah...sometimes by restarting the Springboard you'll lose the Usage time. To bring it back, just charge to full and you'll have it again.

If your battery draining problem persists, just restore your phone. It'll be faster than uninstalling apps one by one to test. After you restore, dont simply install apps.....just get those that you need.

To completely exit an application, hold down Home button till the app closes. For example, if you do this onto Safari, the next time you open it, it won't load the last website that you went to.
