You gotta do this in order for weTool to work:

PuTTy into your iPhone SSH, then issue the following commands :-

ln -s /var/mobile/Library/AddressBook /var/root/Library/
ln -s /var/mobile/Library/CallHistory /var/root/Library/
ln -s /var/mobile/Library/SMS /var/root/Library/

if you're on the Cydia package, yes .. just type passwd from your terminal or u can remote-in via PuTTy and follow the on-screen instructions.


For those who are on BSD Subsystem, don't do that ... if not, you'll be **sorry**. hahaha

i am using Customize with 1.1.4 ... no problems so far , except that the icon re-arrangement and hide/show doesnt work.

Errr... i just used this Customize that's supposedly patched to work with 113/114 ...

... and then just install it manually via SSH.

Yup... this works too.

The problem with Customize is that its a really finicky program, with really bad moodswings. Usually right after a new Customize is installed, it will sure crash a few times before it actually runs properly (or not).

But so far for me, the Customize will eventually play nice and do what its suppose to do.

care to share what's not working on your side ?

I didn't really do anything special to "prep" my iPhone to be more Customize-friendly or anything. Just did the usual, restore 114, ziphone, installer Appsupport, BSD (or Cydia if u prefer), SSH, yadiyadiyadda, then manually load in the Customize, set the permissions... then try and run it .


how about u just try and do like its told on the hackintosh forum, and if u run into troubles .. we'll troubleshoot from there?

yeah ... better buy soon before Apple puts in a new BootLoader and locks everyone out again!

this happens to the "pioneer batch" of Celcom 3G sim cards. The newer Celcom 3G sim cards are OK it seems...

One way to know if the celcom 3G SIM is the older type, is if u put into iPhone, the "Fixed number dialing" window will pop up when u boot afresh.

So, either get a newer Celcom 3G sim, or change to the non-3G 64K Celcom sim.

yeah me too. This is a one-time pain to get all the mP3s named correctly in iTunes library, then it syncs nicely into iPod, iPhone, iWhatever ; And then can grab all the nice album artwork from iTunes-store without paying Appel anymore money than we already have.

Problem is , Malaysia's market is too small in the eyes of Appel. Appel really acts like a big bully the way they want to muscle in on other people's turf ( the Telco's in this case).
OK, so this experiment worked well with AT&T.. but we are starting to see "less than optimistic" results in some parts of Europe already. Lets see how it does in Australia and Ireland...



Hopefully by the time the 3G model comes out , Appel would have shifted to the more traditional model of selling you a device, and letting the customer do whatever he/she wants to do with it and choose whatever telco. After all, Appel is obligated to unlock the European market iPhones after XX months with the exclusive telco.

But then again, greed knows no boundaries...


For the time being , 3 cheers to IDT, IeDT, GeoHot, Zibri , etc etc ...

But their product placement and distribution channels leave much to be desired.

Same goes for how they promote their products... exclusive tie-in with one Telco, no carrier choice given to the consumer at all.

1.1.3 doesn't allow customize to change the icons like re-arrange and hide/show since 1.1.3 and later handles icons in a different way. You're suppose to hold down and icon, and when they are jiggly wiggly, u can re-arrange them on the spot.

What you set in General... Network... bla bla bla is NOT important to SwirlyMMS.

You need to set the proper GPRS/EDGE settings like APN, username, password within Swirly itself ...
But in the case for Maxis .. it is the same as the general GPRS/EDGE settings.
Be mindful that you alsoneed to config the Maxis punya Proxy and MMSC settings .... try and google for it .

I don't have a copy of the Maxis MMSC and Proxy at the moment with me ...

iPhone cannot really be used like flash-drive unlike regular iPod classic/nano/etc where u "Enable Disk Mode" via iTunes.

HOWEVER, you CAN install SSH, and iPhone basically becomes a SSH/SFTP file server. Then you can use wi-fi between your PC/Laptop and iPhone to move files around.

If on the go, just set up a peer-to-peer wifi networking between PC/Laptop and iPhone.

For Windows users, u can use winSCP as the file client program to "log on" into the iPhone and start moving files to and fro.
